Brief Synopsis
The Department The IT Department is responsible for the delivery of all aspects of the Firm's Information Technology systems and services, including all phases of system design, build, implementation and operation to meet the needs of the firm. This post sits within the 3rd line area which comprises infrastructure, applications and 3rd line support teams. The Role The job holder will be part of the 3rd line team responsible for the support and development of the firm’s application set in the UK and centrally managed applications globally; most critical to this is the firm’s document management system (Autonomy, iManage) and messaging platform (Exchange).
Responsible for maintaining business applications and working closely with colleagues in the 3rd line teams, service desk and wider business in delivering IT services.
Main duties & responsibilities
• Provide 3rd line application support of the firms business application set, primarily the Document Management System, troubleshooting 3rd line issues and recommending enhancements where appropriate • Provide 3rd line infrastructure support to all sites. • Provide escalation support from the 3rd line Support Team and as required from the Service Desk. • Work closely with 3rd party vendors, ensuring vendors are meeting their SLA’s • Assist the Applications Manager in creating technical strategies and product roadmaps • Actively involved in projects, where appropriate taking the lead in delivering solutions • Document new technical implementations and support processes as required • Other duties and responsibilities as required
Essential
• Strong 3rd line technical support and troubleshooting • Experience of working in project teams delivering global solutions • Ability to mentor 3rd line Support Team • Experience working with 3rd party vendors in the IT legal sector • Excellent documentation skills • Analytical and logical approach to problem solving • Effective verbal and written communication skills • Excellent inter-personal skills, with the ability to deal with all levels of staff • Confident approach • Ability to establish credibility quickly within the 3rd line support team and the Firm as a whole. • Ability to use initiative and be pro-active • Well disciplined and self-motivated • Ability to work well under pressure • Effective team player
Technical Skills: • Extensive experience working with Autonomy iManage. • Strong understanding of Microsoft technologies particularly MS Server, ideally SQL, Exchange an advantage. • Excellent MS Office 2003\7 • Symantec Altiris Deployment or similar application deployment tool.
