The Department
MDR Cyber is the cyber security and investigations practice within
Mishcon de Reya. Our team is made up of cyber and investigations
specialists who work alongside our legal teams to provide a
comprehensive and responsive client service.
Our practice works with clients to support them in the
prevention of cyber-crime and the management of sophisticated and
often complex cyber-attacks. We help tackle cyber-crime, protecting
our clients from cyber-attacks and helping them find digital
information that supports their needs.
We have extensive experience of working on cyber security issues
with a range of organisations, from large and complex global entities
to mid-sized or small firms, start-ups and private individuals. We
help our clients implement the cyber security they need to address
their threats, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. If an
incident occurs, we use our expertise and experience to help clients
manage the technological, legal and reputational risks.
Offering a wider breadth of service and a broader range of
solutions than traditional investigators, our team combines cutting
edge cyber intelligence skills with innovative investigative
techniques, understanding the legal requirement to gather facts and
evidence properly, safely and ethically.
We assess every investigation to ensure it meets our ethical and
quality standards, as well as using a robust review process.
The Role
We are looking for a freelance Cyber Intelligence Analyst who is
immediately available. The role is likely to involve ad-hoc and
occasional projects.
The individual will be responsible for providing investigative
research on live litigation and cyber risk matters using cutting-edge
technology. They will be a key part of our capability to conduct open
source investigations that will inform strategic decisions on live
cases. The role will be critical to the future development of this
capability, and requires an individual with both analytical and
investigative skills, as well as technology and commercial awareness.
The individual must be highly motivated and eager to become part of
the firms' growth plans in Cyber more broadly.
This role will be critically important for contentious matters across
the firm, having both digital and non-digital elements and will
therefore suit someone who has a strong interest in technology and
corporate / commercial problem solving.
This role has the opportunity to evolve over time; therefore a
flexible and forward looking approach is required.
Responsibilities / Duties
Duties will include, but are not limited to;
Autonomously planning, costing, conducting and reporting on
investigations, acting as a Case Manager, managing the overall
investigatory process and client relationship.
Responsible for the development of the overall investigatory
process, tools and techniques, development of internal processes,
knowledge management and overall capability development.
Working with third party investigators, to manage referred cases
or conduct joint investigations.
Experience Required
Experience of working either in a litigation team or within an
investigative environment is essential.
Advanced technical skills with an appetite for being involved in
new and cutting-edge technology.
Strong research, analytical and structured problem solving skills.
Experience conducting individual and corporate due diligence projects.
Experience in managing large amounts of information, dealing with
ambiguity and uncertainty and solving complex problems.
Experience of optimising and developing the wider investigatory
process is desirable but not essential.
Experience of digital investigations and OSINT preferred
