Job Title Associate - MDR One 1-3 PQE (no agencies)
Location London
Description

The Department

MDR ONE provides centralised global employment law support and data-led insights to multinational companies, putting in-house counsel in control of their global legal operations. It was developed to give business leaders control as they deliver employment law support back to the business and addresses the traditional challenges associated with delivering legal services across multiple jurisdictions: the issues of inconsistent advice and approach, lack of retaining corporate knowledge, cost control and the complexity of managing a global network of law firms.

At MDR ONE, we believe in the value of partnership, consistency, and using cutting-edge technology to deliver access to high quality, practical employment law support. Our clients benefit from business-focussed legal advice across multiple jurisdictions via one relationship and one point of engagement - together with optional technology platforms and data-led account management that helps them build internal efficiencies and unlock valuable insights.

We are not a legal network and our ONE model doesn't tie us to specific local counsel or pre-defined processes and systems. Instead, we offer a fully flexible solution to align with our clients' global employment law needs, as and when they arise.

The Role

We are looking for an international employment lawyer (1 - 3 PQE) to join our growing business.

If you are an international employment specialist who thinks and works differently to traditional employment lawyers and would like to find a home with like-minded, highly skilled people, then we would love to hear from you.

You'll be working with clients and local counsel daily on varied work from across the globe.

You'll help clients shape solutions to tricky people issues. You'll analyse local counsel input and deliver pragmatic, and solutions-focussed advice to our clients. You'll help to guide (employment) M&A matters to a smooth conclusion.

You'll manage a varied workload including, terminations, investigations, works council issues, M&A/TUPE deals, litigation, projects, contracts, handbooks, privacy issues, cross border projects and much more.

We welcome and encourage creativity and ideas, so this is an ideal route for demonstrating your initiative and getting noticed for it.

Skills/Experience

  • Qualified lawyer in the UK or another major jurisdiction.
  • 1 - 3 years PQE (although this is just a guide).
  • In-house experience would be great, as would experience within an international employment team in private practice.
  • Ideally you will have some experience working on international employment law matters.
  • Experience working as part of, or closely with in house employment teams would be helpful, but isn't essential.
  • We work in English, but if you have additional language skills, that's a bonus.

Please note that this job profile is not an exhaustive list of duties but merely an outline of the key components of the role. You may be required by your line manager to take on additional responsibilities when requested.

Who we work with

We work with large multi-national organisations from across the world, across all sectors and industries. Many of those are headquartered in the US. Some of our clients are established global players and others are looking to expand their footprint. The common thread between them is a desire to solve their people problems in new, innovative ways that contrast with the traditional large international firm models.

Our way of working

We have a hybrid office/remote working model. We have a great office just outside the Holborn tube station that we ask you to come into twice per week, or more if you want to.
