Main purpose of job:

Working with the Beijing fee earners to ensure pitches are executed in a timely and efficient way and to a consistently high level of quality. This is a great opportunity for a bright individual, with a demonstrated track record in pitching, to join a well-respected and high performing Asia M&BD team.

The individual in this role will work alongside members of the firm's Asia M&BD team and the central pitching team (based in London) to:

  • qualify pitch opportunities (supported by Head of Marketing & BD, Asia) to ensure that all pitches are aligned with the firm's strategic plan
  • provide lead support and project management for all Beijing and Chinese language pitches
  • be responsible for creating, updating and developing China / Asia based pitching templates
  • maintain a database of experience in both English and Mandarin for key target sectors in Beijing
  • ensuring M&BD is adding value to the pitch process and providing timely and responsive support on client opportunitiesThe primary focus (70%) of the role will involve leading on the responses to pitches and the identification of improvements to the pitching process. For the right candidate there will also be opportunities to become involved in a variety of other BD activities (business planning, events etc) to support the growth of the Beijing office.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist with the tendering process, including managing the logistics of the pitch process for any assigned pitches
  • Working closely with M&BD Asia team and fee earners to undertake effective evaluation of opportunities to determine whether to bid or not
  • Provide lead BD support for assigned pitches, working closely with fee earners and BD colleagues across the network
  • Arrange and attend presentation rehearsals with fee earners, providing feedback as appropriate, with support from the Asia M&BD team
  • Ensure formal and informal pitches/capability statements/presentations are effectively managed
  • Gather relevant material and information; drafting content and coordinating the development of tailored client facing documents and assist in the development of written content for factsheets, webpages and intranet pages as needed
  • Adopt (and encourage others to adopt) specific best practice in relation to pitches, including central bids material and research/analysis
  • Update and maintain content on the firm wide Experience Database
  • Ensure effective coordination with sector/practice/office representatives wherever necessary
  • Capture client feedback and areas for improvement

Education / qualifications / experience:

  • Proven marketing or BD experience, with experience in a professional services firm or relevant sector preferred.
  • University degree in business, marketing or related area preferred. Professional marketing qualification is desirable.
  • Demonstrated track record of pitching.

Knowledge and technical skills:

  • Strong time and project management skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Strong copywriting ability and excellent grammar, punctuation and proofreading skills in both English and Mandarin.
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, PowerPoint Excel and Adobe Acrobat.

General skills:

  • Proactive and able to work to tight deadlines with minimum supervision.
  • Builds and maintains constructive relationships with a variety of different individuals at different levels of seniority.
  • Confident in working with and advising senior colleagues and fee earners, where appropriate
