Role Overview
Working as part of the Knowledge Research Services team you will have
responsibility for the development of the current awareness service
across the firm. The role will require a proactive approach and
engagement with lawyers and business services staff across the firm.
You will also work as part of the enquiries team, answering legal and
business research requests.
Key responsibilities
Overall responsibility for the provision
of news and current awareness services to RPC's staff.
Proactively engage with RPC's lawyers
and business services managers to assess the current awareness
needs of each department, sector (Pillar) and business services
group and ensure that these needs are met.
Review and evaluate RPC's current
awareness tools, ensuring that the right tools are in place and
effectively managed.
Develop a range of current awareness
services based on the needs of the firm. This might include:
internal and client facing bulletins, horizon scanning products
and trackers.
Consistently strive to improve current
awareness delivery, proactively researching industry practices and
developments and identifying better ways to deliver news and
current awareness content.
Manage current awareness searches
through their life-cycle, from set-up, monitoring and updating
through to deletion.
Maintain a current awareness tracker.
Review core processes regularly and
maintain/update documentation.
Undertake legal and business research using a variety of online
resources to provide support with client matters and business
development activities.
Work with the Head of Knowledge and the Knowledge &
Information Research Manager to establish and deliver the firm's
requirements for business intelligence research support, assess
possible delivery models and develop standard templates for
presentation of research and analysis.
Cover for other team members as and when required to ensure
continued service delivery.
Position requirements
A degree or post-graduate qualification in a library or
information related discipline is essential.
Excellent IT skills with the ability to fully exploit existing resources.
Excellent understanding of information and knowledge resources,
databases and associated technology.
Experience of using Manzama, Nexis and Newsdesk.
Good proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of applications is
essential and experience of using collaborative and information
management tools commonly used in law firms is preferable.
Proven experience in an Information Services or a related
discipline is essential, preferably in a legal environment1
Extensive knowledge of key legal and business research databases
and an excellent ability to search across publicly available sources.
The ability to use and review core internal data sources.
