Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily monitoring of multiple security technologies, reviewing logs for unusual or suspicious activities, triaging and responding to security alerts. They will possess good customer facing skills as they will be required to respond to and manage support requests assigned to the IT Security team. They will also be knowledgeable of security good practises and experienced in reviewing system security configuration and undertaking technical risk assessments.

Key responsibilities

  • Undertake daily monitoring of security systems, including the Firewalls, IDS/IPS, web filtering, malware protection, data loss prevention, authentication logs other security controls
  • Participate in incident response activities from detection, through analysis to response and recovery
  • Perform vulnerability scans on networks, servers, systems and applications, reviewing and actioning findings as required
  • Monitor and respond to incident reports and service requests.
  • Maintain security designs to support the firm and provide guidance and support in their use
  • Conduct technical security audits and perform technical risk assessment
  • Conduct firewall rule reviews, network and systems configuration audits
  • Monitor the use of privilege account management systems
  • Keep abreast of the cyber security threats and review threat intelligence information
  • Contribute to weekly security reports including keeping track of information security metrics.
  • Interact with technical teams to provide support for security systems.
  • Maintain the security operational procedure documentation

Position requirements

  • First or second line NOC/SOC monitoring experience
  • At least two years' experience in an IT security position, preferably in a professional partnership.
  • Certifications in CompTIA Security+, CEH or GIAC GSEC preferred
  • Proven experience in IT Security operations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to systematically break down complex issues and tasks into manageable pieces
  • Must be skilled in root cause analysis and provide possible solutions
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language

Working conditions

  • This is a full time, contract position for 4 months.
