POSITION: Commercial Disputes Lawyer - Civil Fraud (1-6PQE)

This role is within our Commercial Disputes Group in London. The group currently is made up of disputes lawyers covering a range of disputes work including: commercial, banking and finance, civil fraud, international arbitration, contentious regulatory and investigations, financial crime, restructuring and insolvency, tax, competition, and employment. The group also handles international arbitration.

We are looking for associates with experience in civil fraud and commercial litigation or banking and financial services litigation to join our team. You will be working for international companies, hedge funds and other financial market players which are usually privately-owned and for UHNW individuals and family offices.

Our civil fraud disputes arise in multiple contexts and sectors, but often involve banking and financial markets disputes, breach of contract claims, director's misfeasance, post-acquisition disputes, shareholder and JV disputes. The disputes are usually international in nature, spanning multiple jurisdictions but most commonly involving parties in Russia, the Former Soviet Union, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

We are looking for lawyers with deep litigation expertise and a passion for disputes work, and particularly civil fraud. Candidates should have a minimum of one year's post qualification experience, and a maximum of six years. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a team and will be keen to build their experience and to develop across the full gamut of disputes handled within the Civil Fraud and Commercial and Banking Litigation teams, albeit with a particular focus on civil fraud disputes. Expected skills:

  • Demonstrable experience in civil fraud and multi-jurisdiction litigation and proven and demonstrable ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at various levels of seniority.
  • Demonstrable experience and expertise with other large, multi-jurisdictional and complex disputes including involving financial services
