We're seeking to recruit a confident and
highly-motivated employment Solicitor (1-5 years PQE) to join our
award-winning and highly-regarded Employment team, splitting your
time between our offices in Taunton and Exeter and with
opportunities for home working.
As we have previously been ranked as 'Employment Team of the Year' in The
Lawyer Awards, and regularly achieve high rankings in both Legal 500
and Chambers and Partners, you'll be part of a high-performing team
which provides pragmatic, rigorous and commercial advice to clients
in both the public and private sector, locally, nationally and internationally.
You'll be providing expert advice to a range of clients
including employers and senior employees/executives in a range of
contentious and non-contentious matters, including complex
employment issues and disputes, and general HR advice to businesses
across all sectors, as well as providing employment support on
corporate matters.
You will be responsible for dealing with high-quality, high-value
work, so we will encourage and enable you to lead your own matters
from the outset.
Reporting directly to a Senior Associate, you will play
an integral part in a wide range of employment work, with the
opportunity to also work alongside other senior lawyers in the team.
About You
You will already be experienced in advising on employment matters,
preferably with an employer focus, and with running your own
Employment Tribunal litigation cases. A strong communicator, you will excel at gaining the confidence of the clients
you are working with, and handle their matters with empathy and sensitivity.
You will need the ability to build strong and lasting
relationships with clients.
Naturally resilient, you will be able to cope with
stressful and demanding situations, and be accustomed to working under pressure to meet
challenging deadlines. You will be tenacious and thorough with good
commercial judgement, in order to find the best possible outcomes
for our clients in often challenging circumstances.
We will encourage you to take a high degree of
responsibility for the cases you're working on, but we'll take every
opportunity to support and develop you, providing cross working
opportunities to increase experience across the team. This is a
great opportunity if you're ambitious and eager to make a reputation
for yourself in a highly-regarded firm with national quality work.

Covid-19
During these uncertain times, we have continued to work together to
ensure that our people feel safe, supported and able to achieve our
usual high standards of work, for each other and for our clients. With
wellbeing being our priority, we have adapted our ways of working to
ensure that new and existing colleagues get the support they need,
when they need it. Interviews are taking place via Microsoft Teams and
induction processes are being coordinated remotely at present, to
enable people to begin working for us from home until such time as it
is possible to return to the office. In the meantime, we have adapted
our office environments to ensure they are 'Covid secure', if people
do need to attend the office.
We will continue adjusting our approach as things change, so please
do feel free to ask us about our response to the Covid-19 pandemic
during our recruitment process, if you would like to know more.
