The role

We are currently seeking an organised and enterprising Legal Support Assistant (Legal PA/Secretary) to provide administrative support within the Planning team. This role would suit someone who has some administrative experience and looking for the next step in their career. This position is based in our Exeter office on a full time and permanent basis. After an initial period of training, we are open to flexible working and hybrid working patterns. Legal Support Assistants are integral to the success of our business, providing lawyers with essential and proactive support. You will be line managed by a Legal Support Co-ordinator who has in-depth knowledge of the role.

Main duties include:

  • PA support including diary management for Partners and lawyers; setting up of meetings, arranging travel, booking attendance at events and accommodation
  • Managing and coordinating own daily workflow in support of lawyers
  • Initial drafting of correspondence as required
  • Preparation and formatting of documents
  • Typing as required, including dictation
  • Assisting in maintaining compliant and accurate file management systems, including client care letters, audits and file review
  • Extensive billing including preparing reports and schedules to meet client expectations and requirements
  • Obtaining Land Registry searches
  • Client correspondence and day to day relationship management - we work with a range of clients and our LSAs are key to making that business relationship work.

About you

Although legal experience is not essential for this role, a professional services or administration background is preferred, as you will need to demonstrate excellent typing skills and the ability to readily manage your own workload. Being highly organised, with meticulous attention to detail and being an effective communicator with clients and internal stakeholders are required attributes for this role. Highly motivated, you will be dedicated to further developing your career and passionate about providing a high quality service.
