Department/Role overview

This is a highly-valued HR generalist role that supports all regional Business Services functions, with key responsibility providing regional support for the Operations Function. Collaborating with Senior Business Partners and HR centres of expertise, the role advises on a wide variety of HR topics to help us achieve our exciting business and people priorities.

Main responsibilities

Support for regional Business Services Functions

  • First point of contact for all day to day HR and policy queries for all regional Business Services functions;
  • Lead employee relations processes for all regional Business Services functions; escalating contentious or complex cases to HR Business Partners when appropriate. ER Processes include investigations, capability and disciplinary meetings and support line managers to resolve them successfully;
  • Manage sickness absence and occupational health requests for all Regional Business services functions, working with employees and relevant teams to ensure a successful return to work;
  • Work with line managers to develop and implement plans to improve employee engagement;
  • Evaluate formal and informal feedback from employees by synthesising and reporting key messages and proposing solutions to the relevant HR Business Partner/line manager;
  • Contribute to HR projects as required, which may include additional involvement with initiatives such as Career Focus, annual engagement survey, business process reviews;
  • Review and amend contracts, letters and ad-hoc communications prepared by ASC People to ensure correspondence is appropriate, accurate and risks are managed;
  • Assist with ad-hoc reporting requirements and general HR policy questions in collaboration with ASC teams;
  • Organise and facilitate elements of the Glasgow new starter induction programme;
  • Lead the annual implementation of the Glasgow office Mentoring programme;
  • Proactively share information, ideas and points of view to enhance business processes and policies;
  • Risk and Control: Ensure all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with our regulatory requirements and internal policies.

UK/EMEA Operations Function

  • Facilitate cyclical processes such as talent reviews, performance appraisals, salary review, budgets; experience surveys;
  • Process recruitment requests;
  • Upskill Assistant Operations Managers on policy and process changes;
  • Create Exit interview data packs for HOF quarterly;
  • Work closely with Operations People and Culture Business Partner in Australia on Operations people plan to deliver their strategic people priorities;
  • Attend monthly meeting with Operations leadership team to discuss people priorities and delivery of key projects.

Essential skills and experience

  • Previous experience within HR advisory is essential.
  • Ability to successfully manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Proactive ability to identify and implement business process improvements.
  • Proven ability to communicate with confidence at all levels and strong relationship building skills.
  • Client-focused work ethic, willing to invest discretionary extra effort to get the job done.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Team player, contributing to the success of the People and Culture team through collaboration
  • Preference for CIPD qualified or working towards qualification.
