Department/Role overview

Working within the Global Infrastructure Team, this position is crucial for fostering cooperation and collaboration across the Compute, Network and Collaboration services and the broader IT function. Collaborating closely with the IT Infrastructure Manager in AUS, the role will manage the daily operations of the global Infrastructure team, ensure compliance with processes, and prioritize and allocate both BAU and project work.

Exceptional coordination, stakeholder and team management skills are crucial for successfully delivering and continuously enhancing our services. This role demands the ability to effectively collaborate with various teams and stakeholders, ensuring that our services are aligned with business objectives.

By maintaining strong relationships and clear communication, this position will drive improvements in service delivery and operational efficiency.

This role reports to the Global Infrastructure Leader.

Main responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Manage the UK based team and work closely with the IT Infrastructure Manager in AUS to provide seamless support and services across regions and time zones.
  • Ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Support BAU maintenance activities, including planning and execution of global infrastructure upgrades.
  • Prioritise and allocate BAU and project work.
  • Ensure best practice and agile working methods are followed from a delivery perspective
  • Support Major Incident resolution activities.
  • Foster cooperation and collaboration across the Compute, Network and Collaboration teams.

Strategic Planning and Alignment

  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement infrastructure strategies that support business objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with other IT leaders to understand business needs and respond with agility to changing priorities.
  • Ensure that infrastructure plans align with the overall business strategy and objectives.
  • Ensure all activities and duties comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Monitor infrastructure performance and service levels, implementing improvements as needed.
  • Deliver and develop regular management reports to drive BAU activity, improve performance, and ensure compliance.
  • Highlight opportunities to maintain and improve SLA performance for incidents, service requests, problems, and changes.

Vendor and Stakeholder Management

  • Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure service quality and value for money.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to understand their infrastructure needs and ensure these are met effectively.

Risk and Control: Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with our regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Essential skills and experience

  • Previous leadership experience as a Manager within a technical sphere
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a plan that ensures that the right people are in the right roles at the right time, and that employees are highly engaged and satisfied
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience of Managing escalations
  • Defining KPIs, SLAs and ways of tracking them; ensuring SLAs are achieved
  • Experience and/or qualifications in Agile project management and delivery methodologies, eg AgilePM, Scrum, Scaled Agile.
  • Expertise in Procedural documentation generation
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams to engage with a process driven culture
  • Chair multi-disciplinary team meetings
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate with people at all levels in an organisation
  • Demonstrate a good knowledge of IT industry trends, suppliers and products, preferably in the legal sector (not essential)
  • Promote an environment that encourages collaboration, team working and innovation
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal including active listening
