With a growing base of clients in Sydney we would love to talk to lawyers with a current Practising Certificate (or ability to obtain one) who are interested in exploring opportunities to work with Ashurst clients or within one of the firm's Practice Groups.

We work with clients in all major cities in Australia. Most roles are hybrid and we can work with you to find a role that suits you in terms of numbers of days/hours worked.

Employment lawyers needed

We have had a consistent influx of roles seeking employment lawyers in Sydney. If you are a strong employment lawyer with any of the following skills and are either a seasoned consultant/contract lawyer looking for a fresh approach, or a lawyer thinking of taking the leap to flex-working, get in touch with our Talent Manager, Fiona Craig, to find out more.

Skills and Experience needed:

  • Specialist expertise in employment law across a broad range of issues including any or all of the following: employment litigation and investigations; employment advisory and compliance (including discrimination, privacy and safety laws); collective bargaining and IR; and corporate transactions and restructurings
  • Ability to monitor legislative changes and industry best practices, recommending updates to policies and procedures
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience
  • Ability to manage external facing issues
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • You must have the ability to hit the ground running, work autonomously and prioritise
  • Our clients are looking for lawyers who are happy to be a doer and confident being on the tools, and have the ability to rapidly understand and adapt to the needs of a business

As well as excellent legal experience you will need:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to interface at all levels, building strong relationships externally and internally
  • Strong commercial and business acumen
  • An excellent client service focus, ethic and commitment
  • The right to live and work in Australia (and be based here) and hold or be able to obtain a current practising certificate
  • Willingness to engage with Ashurst via an Independent Incorporated Legal Practice or casual employment
