Department/Role overview

An exciting opportunity to combine UK and international personal tax and business tax responsibilities working in-house for a Global law-firm.

The role sits within the Partnership Tax and Partner Services Team based in the Glasgow Financial Management Team, reporting to the Senior Tax Managers.

Main responsibilities

  • Working as part of a team to collect the necessary data and prepare 160+ UK partner personal income tax returns.
  • Assisting with preparation of the non-resident partner UK composite filing income tax return (training provided if needed).
  • Assisting with management of the UK partner income tax payments.
  • Supporting the Global Mobility Tax Manager with preparation of 30+ UK secondee income tax returns and associated arrival / departure secondee tax briefings.
  • Supervised preparation of the partnership tax computation for Ashurst LLP.
  • Preparation of the tax computations for various UK subsidiary service companies and associated partnerships.
  • Preparation of 20+ Hong Kong non-resident tax returns (training will be provided).
  • Preparation of Withholding Tax exemption forms for fee receipt purposes (training will be provided).
  • Provision of ad-hoc support to Senior Tax Managers as necessary plus opportunities to become involved in broader international tax matters as time allows.

Essential skills and experience

  • Minimum of 5 years UK personal tax compliance experience.
  • Preferably ATT or CIOT qualified.
  • Experience of working with CCH tax software desirable but not essential.
  • High level of MS Excel knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with partners as personal tax clients.
  • Attention to detail essential.
