The Opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity available for an Expertise Lawyer to join us in Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne. We are considering candidates seeking full-time, or part-time (3-4 days/week) working arrangements.

As an Expertise Lawyer within our Competition practice, you'll be responsible for enabling the team to achieve exceptional levels of productivity, quality and client satisfaction. You will have the opportunity utilise your technical legal expertise in competition and consumer law, to contribute to the work of our competition expertise team and you will play a pivotal role in driving this forward.

Some key areas of focus will be;

  • Implement an expertise plan that aligns to the practice's and the firm's strategy. The expertise plan establishes the priorities for the next financial year and tracks progress on the last financial year's targets.
  • Provide technical advice and support to lawyers at all levels.
  • Monitor legal and market developments and report on the impact of changes in the law, procedure or market practice.
  • Create engaging and relevant training materials that capture the attention of learners and align with the Ashurst brand.

About you:

The successful candidate will have;

  • Australian legal qualifications;
  • A range of experience across competition and consumer law work-types;
  • Experience in multi-jurisdictional merger filing matters and an understanding of merger filing thresholds analysis will be highly regarded;
  • Technically excellent, with abilities commensurate with a mid-level associate; and
  • Experience writing legal publications and/or the skills and ability to produce high quality publications in a short timeframe.
