Job Overview

Main Tasks

  • Regulatory and Risk Advisory: Provide strategic and commercial advice to assist clients in planning, delivering, and operationalizing programs and projects. This includes advising on Licensing and regulatory approvals, regulatory change, compliance management, control design and effectiveness, consumer remediation and regulatory investigations and enforcement.
  • Client Engagement: Work closely with clients to address strategic and risk management gaps, uplift compliance capabilities, and design and implement regulatory engagement strategies and compliance programs.
  • Project Management: Structure and manage end-to-end project scope, budget, and administration. Develop project plans, identify resourcing needs, delegate and review work across the project team, and ensure timely delivery.
  • Client Deliverables: Lead the creation of client artefacts such as agendas, check-in packs, reports, workshop materials, and presentations. Ensure these deliverables are revised with input from Directors and Partners.
  • Business Development: Develop go-to-market materials, including capability statements and potential offerings. Identify opportunities to go to market and work with other parts of Risk Advisory and the broader firm to bring our unique integrated offering to life.
  • Proposal Development: Design the proposed approach for delivering client solutions, including the scope of work, cost estimates, and identifying relevant expertise and experience required to suit the client's needs.
  • Relationship Building: Maintain strong internal and external networks and stay updated on infrastructure trends and issues impacting the sector. Assist in building and fostering trusted client relationships with integrity, including liaising directly with clients and leading client meetings when required.
  • Team Development: Assist with coaching junior members of the team and recruitment.

  • Contribute positively to the culture, growth, and development of the Risk Advisory practice and Regulatory Risk team globally.
  • Work alongside Ashurst's Financial Regulatory, Disputes, Competition, Employment and Digital Economy legal teams to bring a unique and market-leading approach to advising and supporting clients.

  • Client Relationship: Experience providing the highest quality service to clients and fostering professional and commercial relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Team Development: Proven experience coaching and guiding junior members of your team. Actively seek and welcome feedback to support the development of your skills and expertise and are enthusiastic to continue learning and developing your skills and knowledge daily.
  • Proactive and Confident: A self-starter who is keen to work in a fast-paced environment that is always evolving. Proactive, confident in embracing alternate viewpoints.
  • Client-Focused: Confident in autonomously finding solutions to a range of problems, especially those related to risk management, in a commercial and client-focused way.

Preferred Skills

  • Additional experience in finance/financial advisory, property development/advisory, economics, strategy, risk, and/or engineering.

Qualifications

  • 5-9 years of Regulatory, conduct and compliance risk, ideally within a consulting environment.
  • Comfortable advising clients on complex commercial issues relating to major public infrastructure and/or property projects to ensure project success.
  • Proven experience delivering high-quality work for clients and stakeholders in line with expectations and deadlines.
  • Experience writing a range of business documents, including reports, letters, and proposals for government or corporate audiences.
