Team Overview:

For more than, 20 years Ashurst has been a strategic legal adviser on many of the Commonwealth's most complex and sensitive procurement, outsourcing and construction projects. Our team, which is ranked as Band 1 in the Chambers Asia Pacific Guide for Government, acts on a broad range of critical projects, including:

  • Construction projects relating to Commonwealth buildings, facilities and infrastructure;
  • Major procurements of goods and services, particularly in relation to Department of Defence equipment and systems;
  • ICT projects including in relation to software, hardware and other infrastructure, data centres, telecommunications, web services, managed outsourcing arrangements and new technologies;
  • Grants and funding programs; and
  • Corporate governance, privatisation and asset sales projects.

Desired Skills and Experience:

A strong Senior Associate with experience in relation to procurement or construction projects or other commercial transactions, ideally acting for government.

  • 5+ years' procurement, construction or commercial law experience gained within private practice or in-house;
  • excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • excellent drafting ability;
  • strong attention to detail with well-developed analytical skills;
  • ability to work independently while working within a cohesive team;
  • strong mentorship and supervision capabilities; and
  • a proactive, positive and energetic approach with a commitment to providing excellent service, and a desire to interact with the market and build client relationships.

To succeed in this role you will need to be an Australian Citizen and be able to obtain and/or maintain a security clearance at Baseline Vetting Level.
