Role Purpose

Working closely with the Director of Recruitment, EMEA, in-market recruitment and talent colleagues and Global Business Professional recruiters on the management and execution of Business Professional recruitment processes (internal and external; new and replacement hires) for EMEA, delivering significant hiring numbers in a hands-on and direct sourcing capacity.

Acting as Recruitment Business Partner for Business Professional hiring in EMEA, building trusted advisor status with firm and functional leadership and across PBS functions. Collaborating with in-office colleagues, to ensure candidates and hiring managers receive a best in class experience throughout the recruitment and selection process, with a focus on continuous improvement. Work closely and collaborate with the wider regional recruitment team to drive and implement local / regional / global recruitment plans and strategy.

Main Responsibilities

Overall Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute end-to-end recruitment processes for Business Professionals (Global, Regional and In-Market), including but not limited to, managing vacancies; direct hiring; developing and managing relations with preferred agencies/search firms in line with office / regional PSLs and other legal industry organisations to promote the Firm and opportunities; sourcing, interviewing and assessing candidates as required; managing offer processes
  • Working closely with in-market recruiters and talent colleagues, Business Professional recruiters and other stakeholders to ensure that Business Professional roles are seamlessly and expertly supported and managed
  • Drive creative sourcing methodologies, reducing dependency on agencies and focusing on direct sourcing in support of the direct hiring strategy
  • Partner with leadership including Function Leaders to navigate resourcing challenges for the region, ensuring highest quality service delivery
  • Ensure effective coordination and collaboration with the E2E team (as services roll out over time) across all service level requests, to ensure support is seamless, efficient and provides high quality candidate and stakeholder experience
  • Effectively and proactively manage all internal and external relationships, developing trusted advisor status - ensure all internal clients are kept fully informed around the status of their vacancies, working closely with stakeholders to ensure a first class recruitment experience; ensure external contacts, including recruitment agencies / head-hunters and candidates are kept up to date with progress and of any wider firm updates and appropriate communications / collateral to support the Firm's brand as an employer of choice and to ensure a first class recruitment experience
  • Provide regular MI reporting, metrics and status updates as required to key stakeholders, including Director of Recruitment, EMEA, working as needed with E2E team
  • Ensure adherence to any regulatory and employment laws and policies across the region
  • Working proactively with and providing support as needed to the wider recruitment function and alongside Talent Business Partners e.g. on hiring forecasts, talent pipelines and post offer as required
  • Work closely with Talent Management to ensure seamless transition post acceptance, providing an excellent candidate experience
  • Mentor and develop junior recruitment professionals, as required

Additional Duties

  • Adherence to global and regional budgets, workforce planning processes and approved hiring plans
  • In conjunction with Recruitment Team Leadership, conduct reviews of processes and procedures to ensure recruitment best practice and local / regional compliance, whilst ensuring Baker McKenzie is an employer of choice
  • Develop recruiting initiatives that positively impact the overall recruitment of diverse candidates, ensuring that all recruitment activity and processes support and are aligned with the firms Inclusion & Diversity ("I&D") strategy, working closely with other recruitment, talent and I&D professionals
  • Develop and lead / participate in recruiting projects linked to designated recruitment work-stream and sub-streams or wider regional and global projects as and when required
  • Provide support, as and when required, to the Recruitment Leadership Team and other offices on key pieces of recruitment activity (including outside of Business Professional hiring) and projects
  • Actively participate in recruitment communities of practice, regional recruiting calls and recruiting work-streams and sub-streams to develop and implement recruitment objectives, with a focus on leveraging and implementing best practice, supported by strong execution
  • Participate in various recruiter organisations to stay abreast of trends and market activity, increase personal networking, knowledge sharing and promotion of the Firm

About The Candidate

Technical skills, qualifications and experience

  • Significant demonstrable recruiting experience in a professional services organization and/or large law firm, preferably European multi-office and in support of a diverse base of business professional groups
  • Strong track record in direct sourcing methodologies and delivery
  • Well-developed and sophisticated written and oral communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, with a proven ability to relate to and gain the confidence of people at all levels within an organization
  • Able to bring good judgement and empathy to sensitive situations
  • Strong organizational skills and must be able to meet deadlines and multi-task in a matrix, fast-paced, professional services environment
  • Collaborative approach and global mind-set
  • Be an active member of various recruiter organizations (market dependent)
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
