Who We Are
We are different from other law firms in the way we think, work
and behave. Global in our outlook from the beginning, for 10
consecutive years we have been named as the world's strongest law
firm brand by Acritas, underlining our dedication to being the best.
We know the value of our talent in sustaining this success and so
we're committed to offering the platform to nurture this talent.
Baker McKenzie is a truly global law firm. Founded in 1949, we
advise many of the world's most dynamic and successful business
organizations through our 13,000 people in 77 offices across 47
countries. Yet big does not mean impersonal. We work hard to ensure
that everyone knows their role and has the support they need to
perform it to the highest standard. Our culture encourages this -
how we work, think and behave in a collaborative and fulfilling way.
Originally opened in 2012, Baker McKenzie Johannesburg is well
established in South Africa as a leading international law firm and
is regularly involved in some of the country's most high-profile
legal matters.
Completing your Practical Vocational Training with us will offer
you the work, pride and experience of being part of a leading law
firm but in a local office environment that is hardworking, yet
friendly and supportive.
Who We Look For:
Candidates currently enrolled for an LLB degree, to be completed
prior to the commencement of the Practical Vocational Training;
Strong academic profile;
Team players;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to demonstrate initiative and pro-activity;
Highest work standards with a strong service orientation - a
"client first" culture.
We want individuals who can combine an impressive academic track
record with excellent technical skills. But personal qualities are
also important to us, so we're only interested in people who can bring
clarity to complex situations, are committed to excellence, and are
good problem solvers. We also want people who are comfortable working
in diverse teams where friendship is valued.
Diversity and Inclusion are key priorities for Baker McKenzie. The
firm's aim is to foster a vibrant and energetic environment where
individuals across all demographics, from all backgrounds and cultures
may develop and succeed professionally and contribute meaningfully to

Our Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion
Baker McKenzie has a culture of diversity and inclusion in its DNA -
since our beginning, the differences of our people have helped us to
work fluently across borders, cultures and practices. This is
intrinsic to everything we do and underpins Baker McKenzie's vision to
be the global law firm of choice. We understand that organisations
work best when people with different backgrounds and points of view
are brought together. We also know people perform at their best when
they can be themselves at work. Baker McKenzie is committed to serving
our clients with innovative solutions brought about by a diverse
talent pool and an inclusive community.
The Johannesburg office mirrors the wider firm in encouraging the
best people, regardless of race, culture, religion or belief (if any),
gender, gender identity and expression, disability, sexual orientation
