The role
A vacancy has arisen for an Assistant Finance Accountant to support
the Senior Financial Accountant and Systems Accountant in the overall
provision of an efficient, accurate, and commercial financial
reporting function that supports decision-making, identifies
opportunities, and ensures compliance with our regulatory framework.
This is a fixed term contract for 12 months. We are looking for
somebody to start in early December.
The successful candidate will:
Assist on internal and external financial reporting
Work with the Senior Financial Accountant to provide month and
year end accounts, reconciliations and analysis, as well commercial
performance analysis to the business
Work with Systems Accountant to provide data and reports from
various systems
Provide suggestions and solutions to improve finance processes and
promote efficiency and accuracy
Operate with an ethos of high quality performance and a 'get it
right first time' attitude
The Assistant Finance Accountant role is varied and encompasses a
wide range of responsibilities:
Main responsibilities
Preparation and posting of monthly journals, such as prepayments
and accruals
Completion of the monthly Management Accounts for review by Senior
Financial Accountant
Completion of monthly 'Stats Online' for review by Financial
Systems Accountant and Senior Financial Accountant
Completion of weekly capacity and performance information for
distribution to the business
Preparation of Balance Sheet reconciliations for review
Maintenance of Cash Flow forecasting document
Support annual budgeting by compiling data and information to
input to decision-making process
Provision of information and back-up data to external auditors
Compile data for completion of various tax-related submissions
(VAT, PSA, P11D etc.)
Completion of ONS and other surveys
Provide Client Information to Key Stakeholders on a monthly &
ad-hoc basis
Assisting Fee Earners & Providing support with time recording
and case plans
Reviewing and taking action on Exception items
The running of bespoke financial processes
Completion of simple ad hoc queries from the business, as well as
supporting Senior Financial Accountant and Financial Systems
Accountant on more complex queries
What we are looking for from you
Essential skill set requirements:
Understanding of accounting principles including double entries,
prepayments and accruals
They will have some experience of working in a finance team,
either in an ops-based role (e.g. credit control, billing, AP etc.)
or on the accounting side
A desire to progress their career in finance
There will be the opportunity and requirement to learn the basics
of SQL, if not already known, to the level of understanding how a
query has been programmed
