Rise to the Challenge

Based in Bristol within the Finance Team, this role will see the candidate work alongside Purchase Ledger, Legal Cashiers & Billing to assist with timely transactional processing, resolution of queries and compliance with the SRA Accounting Rules. The role will involve being deployed dynamically across the teams to assist with workloads and deadlines, ensuring that service level agreements are adhered to, in conjunction with professional and accurate customer service both internally and externally. This role provides the opportunity to gain experience across the breadth of the finance team within a Top 100 law firm.

Main Duties:

  • Accurate & timely reconciliation of banking activities.
  • Prompt payment of invoices.
  • Efficient resolution of internal and external queries.
  • Processing of employee expenses.
  • Contribute towards SRA Accounting rule compliance.
  • Key point of contact with suppliers & experts.
  • Supplier account reconciliations.
  • Assist with annual audits.
  • Allocating receipts to client ledgers.
  • Other ad-hoc financial tasks.
  • Assisting with month end procedures.
  • Pre-bill generation for Fee Earner review.
  • Processing of bills following workflow edit & approval.
  • Timely management of shared inboxes.

Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrate experience in an Accounts Payable, Banking, Billing or general Finance role.
  • Excellent numeracy & MS Excel skills.
  • Good understanding and experience of accounting principles within a working environment.
  • Enthusiastic, organised, versatile, with a willingness to learn
  • Strong internal and external customer service ethic.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of communication at all levels.
  • Good understanding of VAT and VAT rules, with the ability to apply this to the working environment.
  • Experience in using Financial Accounting Software (e.g., 3E)
  • Knowledge of the Solicitors Regulation Authority Account Rules (desirable).
