Our Litigation, Regulatory and Public Law team is a market leader in the health, social care and local government sectors and continues to grow its profile and client base in the financial services, commercial, and higher education sectors. The team sits within the Litigation, Advisory & Regulatory department which deals with substantial commercial, regulatory and public law disputes (including Judicial Reviews), as well as complex advisory work including around public law decision making and regulatory considerations. The team primarily acts for public bodies such as local authorities, health trusts, regulators, oversight bodies, statutory bodies, and we also act for higher education institutions and corporates.

In joining our growing team, you will have the opportunity to work for a number of the firm's key strategic clients and a range of partner leads and colleagues, whilst managing your own caseload. Given the nature of our clients the cases on which we work regularly touch on live socio-economic or political issues whether that be within local government, health, higher education or financial services; often raising novel issues. Rise to the Challenge

We are recruiting a solicitor (2-4PQE) to join our busy and diverse litigation, advisory and regulatory team working for a range of predominantly public sector clients, with a focus on higher education, local government and health. The successful candidate will be involved in:

  • Advising on public law decision making including on ensuring that decisions are taken properly in accordance with the law and any relevant internal rules or policy.
  • Acting on Judicial Review proceedings, including drafting pre-action correspondence and summary grounds.
  • Advising on complaints and other disputes arising out of the exercise of clients' functions.
  • Advising on the risk of challenge and defending claims under the Equalities Act.
  • Advising on procedural steps of litigation in the County and High Court in those areas through to trial.
  • Representing clients involved in ADR, including mediations and other forms of local dispute resolution.
  • Instructing and working with counsel and experts.

Experience of acting for or an interest in public bodies or higher education institutions including on student related matters would be advantageous. The successful candidate will work with partners and associates on business development, so an interest in supporting business development activities and initiatives would be beneficial.
