Learn from specialists

We are looking for a lawyer to join our corporate team, based in Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds or London (with flexible hybrid working). The role will include working closely with Chris Harper, the head of our corporate team, and within our national corporate team to deliver tailored and commercially focused advice on corporate advisory and transactional matters to our fast expanding corporate client base across both private and public sector markets.

Rise to the Challenge

The team provides transactional and advisory services to clients from a wide range of backgrounds, including:

  • Regional and national private companies
  • Business owners and stakeholders
  • Management teams
  • banks, secondary lenders and investment funds
  • Central government bodies and local authorities
  • Housing associations, as well as development and regeneration vehicles
  • NHS Trusts, Foundation Trusts, Primary Care Trusts and GP consortia
  • Insolvency practitioners

The team frequently advises on matters which have public and private sector participants. Their experience of working at the interface between the private and public sectors gives them a unique insight into the opportunities which can be created through cross-sector partnership working.

Whilst you would be part of a larger corporate department, this is an opportunity to work in a smaller team and develop a specialism in public sector corporate matters, which is a significant differentiating factor for our practice. The role offers plenty of opportunity to gain experience in business development.

What we are looking for from you

Experience of corporate work (mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, restructurings, corporate governance and general company law) is essential.

The successful applicant will also possess the following skills and experiences key to the role:

  • Good core skills and experience in supporting on transactions of varying sizes across mergers, business acquisitions and disposals, private equity, venture capital investments, joint ventures and general company law
  • Sound legal knowledge and commercial awareness, with an ability to give tailored advice to clients and also colleagues as part of cross-discipline offerings
  • A willingness and ability to support business development activities and initiatives
  • A personable manner and a positive attitude
  • Strong communication skills with a professional approach to work
  • A keenness to work collaboratively with colleagues at senior and junior levels
