Description

As a Banking & Finance Lawyer at Burges Salmon you can expect to be part of a collaborative, lively transactional team working on a variety of banking and finance matters.

You will supported and guided by an 8-partner strong senior leadership team, including recently promoted Victoria Allsopp and Emily Scaife. We have also welcomed a number of new lawyers over the last 12 months in Bristol and Edinburgh.

Due to the team's success over the last 12 months, we have scope to grow and therefore would like to speak with banking and finance lawyers looking to develop their careers.

Our Banking & Finance team offer a full complement of banking and finance legal services, which includes advising borrowers, lenders and sponsors on a variety of debt (and debt-related) transactions. These transactions vary in size from £1 million to £1 billion; our core market is debt of £20 million to £200 million.

Our banking & finance lawyers work collaboratively with colleagues across the firm including corporate, real estate and tax acting for banks, building societies, debt and pension funds and other financial institutions, alongside numerous PLCs and large corporate clients around the world. Including:

HSBC // Metlife // Lloyds Banking Group // National Express Group // Beechbrook Capital LLP // DRC // Natwest // Santander // National Australia Bank // Investec // Gravis Capital Partners

While the team is based in Bristol and Edinburgh, most of our work originates in London and the wider UK. For cross-border matters, we work closely with our preferred firm international network.

Work

The Banking team work in partnership with their clients and we form our thinking around their needs to ensure we deliver the right solutions when it matters. Our key areas of expertise are:

  • Real Estate Finance (including offices, hotels, student accommodation, care homes and housing)
  • Energy and Infrastructure Finance
  • Restructuring and Insolvency
  • Corporate and Leveraged Debt
  • Asset finance, asset backed lending and securitisations
  • B2B, Peer to Peer and private banking
  • Derivatives

Requirements

  • Qualified Banking and Finance Lawyer
  • Strong, recent and relevant work experience focused on banking and financial transactions.
  • You will be keen to continue your professional development, coupled with strong commercial acumen.
  • A SRA or Law Society of Scotland registered lawyer.
