the health, social care, housing and emergency services sectors, as
well as in the field of professional discipline. The firm has a
turnover of c£47m and around 550 staff - including 400 fee earners -
across 5 offices nationally. We act for a wide range of long
standing clients in both the public and private sector, including
all forms of NHS organisations, governmental and regulatory bodies,
registered providers, insurers, police, fire and rescue services,
independent health and social care providers, charities and GP practices.

The Role
Human Resources is a highly valued function at the firm and the
people experience lies at the heart of how the firm serves its clients
and recruits, develops and retains its people. The HR department
operates on the Business Partner model, working alongside a Talent
Acquisition team and Compensation and Benefits Advisor. There is a
separate team which has responsibility for Talent Development and
Diversity but these areas work closely with each other.
This role will be responsible for all generalist
operational HR matters for approximately half of the firm’s fee
earning and business services’ divisions.It will also assume
responsibility for leading and delivering key strategic HR projects
as well as day to day management of a HR Assistant and Compensation
and Benefits Advisor.
Whilst not an exhaustive list, the following outlines
the key responsibilities for the role:
Generalist HR
Providing HR advice and guidance to partners, managers and
employees in a professional, responsive and culturally appropriate
manner on all aspects of the firm’s processes and procedures.
Helping create and nurture a supportive and employee centric
well-being culture to retain and develop the firm’s most talented people.
Remuneration and benefits
Taking an active part in the firm’s annual salary review and bonus
processes, making recommendations as appropriate.
Employee relations
Providing guidance and advice on employee relation and staff
wellbeing issues. Supporting the resolution of any issues which
arise effectively and in accordance with current legislation,
ensuring consistency and best practice.
Escalating and seeking guidance from the Head of HR and the firm’s
employment advisors as appropriate.
Performance management
Leading the firm’s annual appraisal and ongoing performance
management processes for assigned divisions/departments. Driving up
engagement where necessary.
Talent development and Diversity
Actively engage in the firm’s Talent and Diversity agenda and its
Career Development Framework ensuring this is embedded throughout
the firm.
Skills set
The ideal candidate will be an HR professional working in a similar
role within a legal or professional services firm. Generalist HR
Business Partnering experience is required and in addition you should
ideally have/be:
Proven ability to build effective relationships with senior
leaders and other key stakeholders.
Capable of thinking strategically and to analyse
issues to identify and implement creative solutions.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to provide effective
project management to ensure key initiatives are delivered to time
and budget.
CIPD qualified or part qualified (or equivalent)
A high level of IT literacy including Excel and HR Management systems.
Ideally experience of overseeing the compensation and benefits processes.
