Description
The Miami office of Clyde & Co seeks an experienced Paralegal to
support our insurance coverage practice group. This thriving practice
represents US and foreign insurance companies in complex, high value
and high-profile coverage litigation and market conduct (bad faith)
matters throughout the United States. They focus on commercial general
liability, commercial property (business interruption, pollution),
errors and omissions (lawyers, agents, and accountants) and directors
and officers.
Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities
include, but are not limited to:
Review court dockets; pull court
filings from PACER and other court databases
Conduct various document
searches, background investigations, litigation history checks,
corporate and factual research
Initial drafting of written
discovery for attorney review/revisions
Review and summarize written
discovery responses from opposing parties
Summarize various documents
and/or pleadings, prepare timeline/chronology
Download document productions,
save to firm system, and liaise with vendors to upload to document
review platforms
Review and tag documents in
review platform
Redact documents, Bates label,
burn discs, and coordinate document production
Ensure compliance with ESI
stipulations and protocols
Prepare privilege logs
Log incoming and outgoing
document productions
Prepare witness packs for
depositions; organize document notebooks for attorney review
Prepare exhibits for
examinations under oath, depositions, motions, hearings, and trial
Summarize transcripts of
examinations under oath and depositions
Send documents to experts and
keep detailed logs regarding same
Prepare and update bordereau of
claims, reporting status and recent developments every 30-45 days
This position plays an intricate
role in the day-to-day operations as the paralegal will assist
with case management, legal document preparation and case strategy
leading to trial. Trial preparation experience is a must
Preparation of pleadings,
discovery demands, discovery responses, trial lists, and other
litigation documents
Intake and organization of
voluminous document production received from clients, opposing
parties, and non-parties
Prepare materials for
depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials to assist attorneys.
Meet monthly billing requirements
Manage calendar to ensure
compliance with all discovery and trial deadlines
Required Qualifications
7-10 years litigation
experience; insurance coverage litigation background preferred
Proficient organizational, oral
and written communication, and analytical skills
Ability to learn quickly and
perform in a fast-paced environment
Experienced with e-filing and
e-service in multiple jurisdictions
Creative problem solver who
takes initiative to accomplish tasks with a minimal level of supervision
Experienced with a variety of
computer applications, document review platforms, and internet
programs: Microsoft Suite (particularly Excel), Outlook, FileSite,
Relativity, Westlaw and/or Lexis
Bachelor's degree or Paralegal certificate
Defense Litigation including
insurance defense experience, construction defect, bodily injury,
premises liability and complex litigation are preferred and trial experience
