Our multidisciplinary global

The Team
Our national Healthcare Regulatory
team is expanding and undertakes a broad spectrum of work defending
healthcare professionals and organisations in regulatory proceedings
before the statutory regulators (GMC/MPTS, GDC, GOC, GPhC, NMC,
HCPC) as well as disciplinary proceedings before NHS Trusts, NHS
England and other private healthcare businesses. The team are
regularly instructed in Coroner's Inquests, CQC proceedings, data
disputes and public inquiries. There is also a specialist sub-team
who defend healthcare professionals in criminal proceedings. The
regulatory team is led by Jane Lang in Cardiff and Adam Weston in
London.
Our Manchester Regulatory team requires an experienced Legal Director
or Senior Associate to handle a varied caseload of regulatory,
Inquests and criminal matters for a range of clients who include,
insurance companies, medical and dental defence organisations, private
individuals and professional associations.
The successful candidate needs to be able to manage a complex
caseload and must have extensive experience of running regulatory,
Inquest and criminal matters in previous roles. The candidate must
also have experience of managing and supporting junior fee-earners and
a focus on business development and supporting growth.
Requirements of the Role
Strong technical skills across a range of complex legal matters;
A proven track record in business development and supporting growth;
Experience of managing/supporting junior fee-earners on a
day-to-day basis;
Understanding and dealing with client expectations, objectives,
negotiating position and key concerns;
A commitment to the consistent delivery of high quality advice to clients;
Contributes to training initiatives;
Demonstrates strategic business knowledge of clients in the sector.
Essential skills & experience
Candidates will ideally have a minimum of 8 years PQE, (please note
that our PQE levels are a guide and all suitable candidates will be considered);
Display excellent legal skills and initiative, as well as managing
and prioritising a full and varied caseload;
The ideal candidate will have significant relevant experience in
defending complex regulatory, Inquest and criminal matters within
the healthcare sector;
The Solicitors Act 1974 requires practicing solicitors
to have a practicing certificate;
