Our multidisciplinary global healthcare group draws upon expertise
across the firm and comprises lawyers who specialise in civil

inquests, CQC proceedings, the Court of Protection, capacity and

The Team
Our national Healthcare Regulatory team is expanding and undertakes a
broad spectrum of work defending healthcare professionals and
organisations in regulatory proceedings before the statutory
regulators (GMC/MPTS, GDC, GOC, GPhC, NMC, HCPC) as well as
disciplinary proceedings before NHS Trusts, NHS England and other
private healthcare businesses. The team are regularly instructed in
Coroner's Inquests, CQC proceedings, data disputes and public
inquiries. There is also a specialist sub-team who defend healthcare
professionals in criminal proceedings. The regulatory team is led by
Jane Lang in Cardiff and Adam Weston in London.
Our Manchester Regulatory team requires an Associate to handle a
varied caseload of regulatory healthcare matters for a range of
clients who include, insurance companies, medical and dental defence
organisations, private individuals and professional associations.
The successful candidate needs to be able to manage a complex
caseload and must have experience of running regulatory and inquest
matters in previous roles.
Requirements of the Role
Strong technical skills across a range of complex legal matters;
Contribution to business development and supporting growth;
Understanding and dealing with client expectations, objectives,
negotiating position and key concerns;
A commitment to the consistent delivery of high-quality advice to clients;
Contributes to training initiatives;
Demonstrates strategic business knowledge of clients in the sector.
Essential skills & experience
Candidates will ideally have a minimum of 4 years PQE, (please note
that our PQE levels are a guide and all suitable candidates will be considered);
Display excellent legal skills and initiative, as well as managing
and prioritising a full and varied caseload;
The ideal candidate will have significant relevant experience in
defending healthcare registrants in complex regulatory matters and
before Coroner's Inquests;
The Solicitors Act 1974 requires practicing solicitors
to have a practicing certificate;
