About the role
We are seeking an intelligent and highly motivated Senior Associate
level lawyer with between 5-8 years' of experience to join our
Professional Indemnity practice in Sydney, led by Partner, David Lee,
who was recently recognised as a leading insurance and litigation
lawyer by Best Lawyers 2023.
This is a unique role and will involve interaction with our London
colleagues in the professional and financial disputes space with
particular focus on insurance brokers. We are growing this practice
and it is a brilliant opportunity for a smart and ambitious lawyer to
work alongside the Partner who at present is the only partner in
Australia handling professional indemnity claims against insuarnce
brokers. On offer is exposure to large scale, high value, multi-party,
and/or multi-jurisdiction litigation. This role includes handling the
defence of complex professional indemnity claims on behalf of
insurance brokers, with underlying disputes involving financial lines,
professional indemnity, D&O and public liability claims.
The nature and size of the team will mean that you will be heavily
involved in all aspects of matters allowing you to make a significant
contribution to their outcome. This role will allow you to continue to
develop your professional and personal brand.
Key skills and experience
You will be an ambitious and established lawyer in Australia, New
Zealand or overseas, particularly the UK, with the following core competencies:
general insurance litigation, financial lines, professional
indemnity, and/or director and officers (D&O) experience is preferred;
a strong private practice background where you have ideally had
exposure to some or all of the types of matters detailed above;
experience working with, and analysing, high volume data sets and evidence;
strong academic credentials, self-driven with excellent verbal and
written communications skills;
firmly established time management skills and ability to manage
competing priorities effectively;
demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, as well as the
ability to work independently;
commercial awareness and confidence in building a rapport with
clients to gain a better understanding of their business' needs and
with the assistance of the partners, actively developing these
client relationships.
