This opportunity involves working directly for John Moran, who is a
pre-eminent insurance practitioner and has a strong focus on
innovation, team culture and the personal development of all staff.
His team advises on the most complex and high-profile matters from
litigation arising from the Royal Commission, through to significant
D&O multi-party proceedings and professional indemnity matters for
professionals across various industries. The role will also involve
working with other members of the team including Senior Associates and
Special Counsel.
Our Sydney office currently has an opportunity available for an
intelligent and highly motivated lawyer ideally with minimum 4 years
post qualification experience to join our highly regarded insurance
team as the practice continues to grow.
The role includes handling complex financial lines, professional
indemnity, class actions and director and officers (D&O) matters,
both from a defence and coverage perspective. The role will also
involve assisting one of the senior lawyers in relation to
construction and engineering professional indemnity disputes as well
as some commercial litigation matters. This is a strong area of growth
for our business. Our clients typically include large insurers (local
and international), Lloyd's syndicates, and their insureds.
The nature and size of the team will mean that you will be heavily
involved in all aspects of matters. Within the supportive environment,
this allows you the autonomy and development opportunity to drive and
make a significant contribution to the matter outcome. Further, you
will be encouraged to foster and generate client relationships and
will have the opportunity to engage in business development frequently.
This role will be well suited to people who are looking to expand
their knowledge, and are ambitious and are looking to progress to
Senior Associate.
Key Skills & Experience
We're looking for an ambitious lawyer who enjoys working as part of a
dynamic and collaborative team with the following experience:
General insurance litigation, financial lines, professional
indemnity (especially with a focus on construction and engineering
claims), and director and officers (D&O) experience is preferred
but not essential.
You may also have a general commercial litigation background,
construction litigation background and be interested in insurance.
Strong academic credentials, self-driven with excellent verbal and
written communications skills.
Strong time management skills and ability to manage competing
priorities effectively.
Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, as well as the
ability to work independently.
Commercial awareness and confidence in building a rapport with
clients to gain a better understanding of their business' needs and
with the assistance of the partner, actively developing these client relationships.
