Role: Junior Associate (0-3 years PQE)

The Team

  • We are a growing team led by two partners, which is at the heart of the Bristol office and one of the founding teams when the office was opened in 2018.
  • This is a genuine opportunity to work on national and international construction, engineering and renewables projects as part of the global Projects & Construction group.
  • The Bristol team is a dynamic, energetic and prides itself on providing commercially astute and legally sound advice on national and international disputes.
  • Our team works for national and international clients within the domestic and international arenas. We work closely with colleagues from our Manchester, Newcastle and London offices.
  • Hybrid work: minimum of two days per week in the office, with one day as a core team day
  • In addition, the role provides opportunity to access an exceptional range of personal and professional development opportunities within Clyde & Co, including our legal delivery academy, in-house talent programmes and the Global Associate Programme (GAP), which provides the opportunity to spend time working from our international offices. Recent examples of GAP participants from the Bristol office includes time spent alongside our teams in offices such as Hong Kong, Santiago and New York City.

The Role / Key Responsibilities

  • Exciting and unique opportunity to work in ambitious and growing team, which is part of global group.
  • This is a predominantly dispute-focussed role, involving supporting the team, or working directly with a partner in relation to: dispute advisory and avoidance work; adjudication; high court litigation; arbitration and alternative dispute resolution forums, including mediation, DAB/DRB and expert determination/early neutral evaluation.
  • The wider national team will be able to offer some transactional experience and work in major projects and development sectors.
  • Requires a genuine team player who can integrate into a busy, supportive, and friendly national team.
  • Requires an ability to build strong client relationships and carry out business development activities.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • We are looking for a junior associate, ideally with between 0 and 3 years PQE.
  • Experience in construction, engineering law, with some energy experience preferred.
  • Qualified as a solicitor or barrister in England & Wales.
  • Willingness to work cross-office and across the globe.

  • Analytical and logical approach with a high level of attention to detail.
  • A can do, positive attitude and a willingness learn about the industry and go the extra mile for our clients.

The right candidate will display strong technical skills and initiative as well as confidence in handling a full and varied caseload. They will be a strong communicator, with excellent attention to detail.
