The Role

We are currently recruiting for a legal assistant who specializes in litigation to join our Vancouver team. They will provide direct support to a team of three lawyers. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of litigation experience. This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Work schedule to be 5 days a week in office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation and production of a variety of legal documents, with accuracy, in the area of litigation.
  • Attending to file openings, preparation, and management.
  • Preparation of daily correspondence.
  • Entering time and working with the billing department, as required.
  • Performing online searches and filings through BC Online/BC Registries.
  • Proofreading of typed material for grammatical, typographical, or spelling errors.
  • Maintaining an efficient bring forward/follow-up system.
  • Carrying out other general administrative tasks as required by the firm.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Legal Assistant Certification from an accredited institution or the equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a legal assistant in the area of litigation with knowledge and understanding of the B.C. Supreme Court Rules.
  • Solid understanding of law office procedures.
  • Strong computer skills in the area of Microsoft Suite.
  • iManage, 3E experience would be an asset.
  • Rigor and attention to detail.
  • Great organization and prioritization skills.
  • Handling and prioritizing workload while working under pressure of tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Behaving in a professional manner with lawyers, clients, and other team members at all levels.
  • Team-spirit, strong sense of collaboration and positive, "can-do" attitude.
