About the Role

The Professional Support Lawyer for the APAC Insurance Group will manage and execute key knowledge initiatives for the Group, working in collaboration with a range of knowledge and business support personnel throughout the Region.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Core knowledge duties

  • Work with the Group Knowledge Partners and the Head of Knowledge to develop the Group's knowledge content plan and towards the achievement of the plan's objectives
  • Monitor legal developments, legal trends and regulatory changes, analyse key impacts, and communicate this to the Group, incorporate these changes into other knowledge work products in the Group and more widely (including the creation of market facing content, and precedent/practice guidance amendments)
  • Promoting the contribution of know-how, and instigating processes to maximise contributions (including attendance at relevant Group meetings, regular Group reminders, end of matter de-briefs etc)
  • Maintenance of the Firm's intranet platform to provide a comprehensive knowledge resource for the Group, to include other knowledge work products and know-how collections
  • Building greater cross practice area connections between other professional support lawyers in the Region and other professional support lawyers with the same role globally
  • Work with the Group Knowledge Partners to raise the profile of the Group by a more consistent application of best practices in content-led practice development and brand-enhancement

Internal knowledge and training support

  • Create and maintain knowledge content needed by the Group to promote efficient, streamlined work production and support delegation, such as templates, guidance and process maps
  • Identify innovative approaches to the improvement of service delivery in both technology and process
  • Liaise with the Firm's wider Legal Delivery team to develop knowledge work products to be capable to use in conjunction with legal technology
  • Contribute to and assist with the scoping and administration of pilots to test innovation within the Group and across the wider Firm
  • Support the Group's black letter law and legal skills training programme (in the Region and where appropriate globally) by providing input into the curriculum, as well as developing training and presentation materials (including e-learning modules) and delivering modules as required
  • Support the Group's external client training by developing training and presentation materials and delivering modules as required, in particular identifying opportunities to recycle internal training materials to offer clients "added value" services
  • Liaise with the firm's Learning and Development staff in connection with the Group's on-going training needs

Market facing content

  • Develop content for thought leadership reports, legal publications, client alerts or client training as required
  • Monitor and track industry/sector developments relevant to the Group's key clients, and feed into market facing content and other knowledge work product and deliverables
  • Promote the wider utilization of knowledge and innovation tools and processes within the Groups

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Strong academic credentials
  • Admitted in a common law jurisdiction
  • Minimum 4 - 6 years post qualification experience as a practicing lawyer or PSL/practice support lawyer, with direct involvement in insurance industry know-how and developments, the majority of which fall within the contentious, claims and advisory sphere. Experience in insurance claims across a spectrum of business lines (financial lines, property, casualty, etc) is preferred.
  • Excellent English language skills (verbal and written) and the confidence to communicate and present well in a multi-cultural, multi-level matrix environment
  • Excellent time management and organizing skills
  • Innovative and client-focused in the use of delivery media
  • Understands and promotes connections between KM, training and business development
  • Strong word processing, spreadsheet and presentation skills
  • Strong legal research and excellent legal drafting skills
  • Able to present information concisely and professionally
  • Self-starter who is able to demonstrate a proactive and positive attitude to their work
  • Consistently produces quality work and pays close attention to detail
  • Ability to work with remote supervision as part of a dispersed team
  • Able to multi-task and work on a variety of projects at the same time
  • Keen to learn and develop, demonstrating enthusiasm and dedication
  • The Matter Management Plan is designed for use throughout the lifetime of the matter, setting out the approach to day-to-day delivery for the benefit of the client and the Clyde & Co delivery team.
