Junior Associate/Associate - Disease Team - Newcastle
We are looking for a Junior Associate/Associate to join the Disease
Team to be based in our Newcastle office.
The Role
We are looking to recruit a Junior Associate/Associate to join our
market leading Disease practice in our Newcastle office. This role
involves handling a mixture of claims including employers' liability
and disease claims on behalf of a variety of clients.
We are interested in a Junior Associate/Associate that has experience
in managing a caseload of Employers Liability claims alongside
handling cases through to trial. Disease experience is ideal, but not
essential as full training will be provided.
The Team
The defence of all types of disease claims
is one of Clyde & Co's specialist areas. With 25 specialist
partners and dedicated lawyers and technicians, the group combines
technical excellence and cutting-edge knowledge with the ability to
deploy dedicated resources to handle volume instructions across a
full range, including:
Asbestosis and asbestos related lung cancer and mesothelioma.
Asthma and other respiratory conditions.
Cumulative back injury.
Deafness.
Dermatitis.
Repetitive Strain Injury.
Rhinitis.
Stress.
Upper limb disorders.
Vibration White Finger (VWF) and Hand/Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS).
Key Responsibilities
Managing a caseload of pre-lit and
litigated Fast Track and Multi-Track Disease claims up to a value
of £500,000.
Drafting of Court documents within the
Civil Procedure.
Instruction of Counsel and experts where appropriate.
Assessing liability and quantum and
preparing reports/advice.
Making and responding to offers and
negotiating settlement of both liability and quantum as and when necessary.
Managing client MI expectations and SLA requirements.
Essential Skills & Experience
Previous Solicitor experience within personal injury litigation
(Defendant or Claimant), ideally with an EL/Disease background.
A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent organisational skill.
The ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently by managing
time in a fast-paced environment.
A professional manner with the ability to build relationships
internally and externally.
Assertive and confident with a "can do" attitude to work.
Willingness to learn and develop skills/knowledge.
