The Team
The Global Business Development Leadership team sets the strategy in
consultation with the Global Strategy Board, Client ExCos and Global
Practice Groups (GPGs). The BD teams (comprising Communications,
Marketing, Business and Client Development experts) are led by
functional and regional heads of Business Development who are aligned
to our global and regional boards.
Our strategy seeks to:
Manage and develop clients and profile in our global sectors
Adopt a content and product led approach in taking our practice
groups to market
Prioritise the use of integrated digital marketing channels
Position our most senior staff as advisors to the business,
supported by expert execution teams
Our principles dictate that the highest value clients and
opportunities command the highest level of consultancy and bespoke tactics
The Role
This role has a focus on the Industrials / MNCs side of the business,
though evidently at times there will be overlap with the insurance
teams. The successful candidate will work closely with the Global
Business Development Leadership team, the Heads of Business
Development, relevant Senior Managers, UK Business Development Team,
MNC ExCo members, and the broader UK Partnership to help develop and
implement the resourcing for both the practice groups and the MNC
Programme, as well as oversight and line management of the Senior BD
Managers and other team members within the relevant sectors / practices.
You will be expected to have demonstrable experience in: leveraging
and influencing your network; helping facilitate the sales process;
origination and coordination of high value marketing and pitch
activity; and providing advisory and execution services to partners.
You will need to ensure that tactics employed are aligned to achieving
the strategic goals for the MNC programme whilst effectively
advocating the aims of the firm's business development agenda within
the sectors / practices.
Collaboration with Communications, Marketing, Pitch & Pursuits
and Client Development teams are integral at the awareness,
engagement, and retention stages of the pipeline, achieved with a
strong sense of team and cooperative attitude and a digital first ethos.
The role reports to the Head of Business Development (UK; Clients).
There will be oversight and coaching of the UK based Business
Development Team (in conjunction with the insurance BD lead) along
with direct line management of some Senior Managers within the group.
The role will be based in the London office.
Key Responsibilities
Drive greater business development focus on MNC clients and targets.
Track and remain up to date on global and regional market trends,
as well as trends within our MNC clients, to identify and exploit
emerging opportunities.
Alongside the Client Relationship Programme Leads, develop our
business development approach to the emerging issues and market
events impacting the MNCs.
Develop strong and influential relationships with lawyers and
staff to cause their active engagement with, and support for, the UK
and MNC business development strategies.
Work with the marketing team to marshall all of the available
tools and channels - thought leadership, products, campaigns,
knowledge - to focus on Successful Risk Navigation / our key MNC
priorities. Utilize analytics to refine activity to best meet given
objectives. Embed the firm's brand narrative within the MNC Programme.
Oversee and manage the BD team's contribution to high value MNC
pitch and panel opportunities and develop and facilitate access to
best practice pitch and marketing content to improve consistency of
the go to market messaging.
Work with relevant Head of Business Development to deliver
relevant objectives from the Business Services Transformation
Project and support with the communication and adoption of new
working practices in the business.
Maintain close relationships with relevant global BD members,
creating a cohesive approach.
In conjunction with the Head of Business Development and Client
Programme leads, ensure all of the BD team members working within
the Team are aware of and understand the strategy and their role in it.
Manage, develop, and motivate relevant team members.
Maintain and assemble a nimble BD Team in order to deploy and
respond to market and client developments on a project basis.

Works comfortably at a Senior level and possesses the ability to
influence key partner and lawyer groups.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple
priorities within tight timescales.

assimilate information quickly.
Strong interpersonal skills including confidence, positivity,
diplomacy, team focused dynamic and the ability to gain credibility quickly.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
