Description
Clyde & Co are presently in search of an Associate with at least
1 year post-qualification experience to provide support to our Cape
Town Marine and Insurance Team. This position offers an excellent
chance to become part of a team comprising of industry experts. You
will represent a diverse portfolio of regional and international
clients, while also benefiting from unparalleled access to our offices
in other jurisdictions. Moreover, there will be opportunities to

Key Responsibilities
Assisting the Partner and other team members on a range of complex
and large-scale matters, including but not limited to:
International trade, commodities, shipping, transportation,
commercial agreements, court proceedings, domestic and international
arbitration, marine insurance, and commercial disputes
Conducting legal research and analysis related to a broad-spectrum
of legal issues and matters.
Strong research, writing, and analytical skills;
Ability to handle matters of a highly sensitive nature;
Ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects;
Ability to handle time sensitive matters;
Excellent organisational and time management skills;
Ability to identify and resolve problems quickly.
Candidate profile
Suitable candidates will have strong academic results.
Candidates will have minimum 1 years' post-qualification experience.
Ability to juggle a range of tasks and prioritise effectively.
Clear commercial understanding and outcome focus with a desire to
deliver the highest quality service and advice to leading
international clients.
Strong drafting skills and excellent attention to detail.
Proven ability to work as part of a team with varying levels of
responsibility and supervision depending upon the matter.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and networking ability.
Preference will be given to candidates with marine and/or
insurance background and qualifications.
Qualifications
Admitted to practice in South Africa
1+ years of disputes experience
Excellent academic credentials
Credible work history
Proficient to advanced user of Microsoft Word and Outlook
Proficient to advanced user of PDF programs such as Adobe,
Nuance/Kofax, etc.
Applicant must be detailed oriented and highly motivated with the
ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Impressive command of grammar and punctuation
Must have experience with FileSite, iManage, or equivalent
document management system.
