Junior Associate (NQ-3) - Catastrophic Injury and Large Loss - Edinburgh/Glasgow
We are looking for an Associate (NQ-3 years PQE) to join our
Catastrophic Injury and Large Loss Team to be based in the Edinburgh
or Glasgow office.
The Role
Our Catastrophic Personal Injury and Large Loss team covers every
aspect from policy coverage to litigation, providing expert support
for all level of personal injury claims, with a particular focus on
those of the highest value. This is an excellent opportunity to join
an expanding team within our multi-award-winning firm.
The role can be based in Edinburgh or Glasgow office and requires
regular communication with clients nationally. We have a
collaborative, supportive team working in a modern, flexible environment.
The successful candidate should preferably have experience in
personal injury. Previous experience in dealing with Catastrophic
Personal Injury and Large Loss cases will be an advantage but is not
essential. This is an opportunity to take a lead in a growing area
where the law is developing and the work is challenging.
Please note that our PQE levels are a guide and all suitable
candidates will be considered.
Essential Skills & Experience
You will be a highly determined and well-organised individual able
to adapt well within a demanding, fast-paced team.
You will have experience of personal injury or other areas of
civil litigation
You will enjoy being challenged by complex legal issues and
expanding your knowledge.
You will be focussed on delivering a highly professional service
to clients, including compliance with client SLAs and MI requirements.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will take responsibility for:
Working with all members of the team. You will be exposed to a
variety of work, but predominantly acting on behalf of a range of
insurance companies and self-insured commercial organisations.
Assisting and handling a varied caseload as well as appearing
regularly in the Sheriff Court.
Carrying out investigations, taking witness statements, reviewing
and interpreting medical records and medical reports.
Identifying information requirements and securing required
documentation/evidence from third parties.
Adhering to reporting and reserving requirements in relation to
different client SLAs
File Management - including initial reports, updating reports and correspondence
Attending and appearing at court hearings, pre-trial meetings and
Proofs, and adhering to court timetables
You will support the Partners in servicing existing clients,
growing new business and maintaining relationships with clients
using technical excellence and innovation
Drafting of all legal documents and client advice.
