The Role
The role sits within the Group Partnership Accounting Team based in London. The Team plays a central role within Clyde & Co's global finance function. Responsible for overseeing the accounting and reporting of partner remuneration, payments, capital contributions and other partner balances on a partner-by-partner basis for over 470 partners globally. The team is a point of contact for regional finance teams, as well as the partners themselves.

The job holder will have responsibility for overseeing all aspects of Partnership Accounts, and provide support to the Remuneration Committee process and team's project delivery.


The job holder will be able to collaborate with the firm's Senior Management team, including the Global CEO, Global CFO, regional COOs and Heads of Finance.


The job holder will report into the Head of Global Partnership Accounts. The job holder will have 2 direct reports, and a further 2 indirectly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management and coordination of the partnership accounting team to ensure effective delivery of its day-to-day responsibilities, and oversee, guide and monitor the development of team members
    through clear objective setting and performance reviews.
  • Take a lead role in managing the Global Partnership Accounting team on all partner accounting
    aspects, including the following tasks:
    - Oversee, review and control the maintenance of detailed partner profit sharing information for all partners throughout the year, including liaison with the appropriate business
    services representatives to ensure information is accurate and fully up to date
    - Own the forecasting, calculation and payment of partners' monthly drawings and distributions.
    - Manage the efficient and timely completion of the team's monthly processes, reviews and associated reporting
    - Oversee, review and control the maintenance and reconciliation of partner-related GL accounts, including partners' current accounts, capital account and tax reserve balances
    - Manage the annual partner statement production process
    - Own the preparation of global partner remuneration budget and forecast submissions, and resolving associated queries
  • Manage the annual partner capital process and the relationships with partner capital loan providers (banks), resolving service issues and monitoring facility usage and headroom, working with the Treasury team to ensure sufficient facilities available.
  • Provide support on the team's duties relating to new and retiring partners, partner relocations and new office openings, including review of documentation and other administrative tasks.
  • Provide support to the Head of Global Partnership Accounts throughout the firm's annual Remuneration Committee process, including recording and updating information accurately. Responsibilities will involve interaction with the firm's Senior Management team including the Global CEO, regional COOs and Heads of Finance.
  • Provide support to the Global Partnership Accounts Supervisor with regards to the review of work and performance of team members. Take an active role in the day to day development of others, setting clear objectives and providing constructive feedback, coaching and training as required.
  • Provide support, guidance and assistance to other members of the team on all aspects of the Partnership Accounting function as and when required
  • Oversee the timely preparation of the firm's annual Distribution Accounts and provision of the Members' Interests schedules for the firm's statutory accounts and audit process
  • Work alongside the tax and financial accounting teams to establish profit sourcing arrangements
  • Critical review of processes and workflows, to identify limitations and opportunities. Drive continuous improvement of the team's processes and procedures, to develop models, streamline
    processes, enhance efficiency and quality
  • Take proactive oversight in the ongoing development and execution of specific improvement projects relating to the Partnership Accounting function, to deliver more efficient, secure and accurate processes through improved use of technology and systems. Duties will include planning,
    designing, implementing, supervising and monitoring all aspects of a specific project, and involve collaboration with relevant stakeholders
  • Develop collaborative and robust working relationships with stakeholders across the UK and overseas offices. Including regular liaison with the global treasury team, in-house tax team and
    financial accounting and controllership team
  • Support the Global Controller and Head of Global Partnership Accounts with ad-hoc duties and project work related to partner remuneration and accounting; and
  • Provide support to the audit process and resolve queries in relation to partner matters

The list of duties and responsibilities is not exhaustive and the job holder will be required to undertake additional duties as required to ensure the smooth running of the department, flexibility is required at all times.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Part or full qualification from a recognised accounting body (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or similar) or qualified by equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Partnership Accounting roles is essential, whilst working in a multi-currency global accounting environment
  • Previous experience in a manager or supervisor (or equivalent) role, with direct reports. Ability to demonstrate management qualities, including review, coaching and development of others.
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Excel, including use of pivot tables as well as vlookup and sumif formulas as a minimum. Experience with Macros, Power Query and Power BI an advantage.
  • Strong level of accuracy, attention to detail and excellent analytical skills to assimilate large volumes of data and present information in a clear and simple way
  • Highly organised and structured. Strong time management skills, ability to multitask, prioritise and manage concurrent projects.
  • Ability to work to deadlines, cope with conflicting demands, and remain calm when operating under pressure
  • Ability to use initiative and be proactive
  • Ability to critically review, evaluate and devise ideas, adapt to and implement change
  • Ability to take responsibility and be accountable

    with members of the finance team, partners and other senior stakeholders
  • Knowledge of Elite 3E would be an advantage
