Description

Clyde is seeking an experienced Debt Recovery Officer (DRO) to lead and oversee pre-litigation debt recovery efforts across the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, and globally when required.

The DRO will play a pivotal role in supporting the growth of our Debt Recovery practice by managing and expanding the recoveries portfolio both domestically and internationally. Additionally, the role involves supporting the Regional Finance Group in improving bad debt collections through effective pre-litigation and litigation recovery procedures, including debtor meetings, site visits, and skip tracing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to recover outstanding payments.
  • Locate and contact debtors to assess payment status.
  • Negotiate payment deadlines or repayment plans.
  • Monitor assigned accounts to identify overdue debts.
  • Draft legal notices, agreements, demands, and claim forms.
  • Address debtor queries, investigate discrepancies, and resolve complaints.
  • Foster trust with debtors to prevent future issues.
  • Maintain accurate account updates and regularly review databases.
  • Escalate cases where debtors are unwilling or unable to pay.
  • Ensure compliance with firm policies, SRA guidelines, and risk requirements for unavoidable legal action.
  • Review documentation to assess disputes, risks, and recoverability.
  • Collaborate with partners to develop tailored recovery strategies.
  • Use creative problem-solving and negotiation skills to reach amicable solutions.
  • Flexibility to travel when required.

Candidate Requirements

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
  • Experience in Accounts Receivable, Credit Control, Collections, or Debt Recovery, preferably within professional services.
  • Strong knowledge of recovery practices and laws.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in English is essential, and Arabic is a plus.
  • Proven ability to manage debtors effectively with a proactive approach.
  • Strong interpersonal and commercial acumen, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
