The Role

The Legal Cashier provides competent and efficient assistance in cashier/book - keeping duties.

Shift requirement: 11:00am - 7:00pm Central Time

Key Responsibilities

  • Record all daily incoming wire and check payments to the appropriate matters and invoices
  • Identify and research incoming wires and checks to ensure they are properly entered to the accurate invoices or matters on a daily basis
  • Deposit incoming checks received from clients through Citibank online or to the bank.
  • Deposit checks and post staff personal FedEx and postage charges
  • Contact/email clients for allocation information when not provided
  • Contact/email clients for any duplicate or over payments
  • Complete check or wire request for payment discrepancies from clients and processing
  • Notify the team to confirm payments received through Trust accounts.
  • Make necessary payment reversal/adjustments to the invoices when requested by Billers.
  • Keeping track of San Francisco Trust and Operating account on a daily basis
  • Process checks or wires for Operating and Escrow account for check or wire request
  • Process manual checks for terminating employees
  • Filing all checks/wires backups daily
  • Assist Orange County office on wire processing when needed
  • Research and provide information (escrow and payment status) to partner's and staff when needed
  • Enter/post CourtCalls monthly statement
  • Enter/post Los Angeles Superior Court's monthly statement Manage and record Petty Cash in the firm's GL accounts and replenished

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of 3E and/or Enterprise software helpful, but not required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Must be a team player and have interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Excel and Word
  • Above all, possess the highest standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in a relevant position
  • Previous accounts receivable/legal cashier experience (preferably in a law firm or other professional services firms).
