The Firm's New Jersey office seeks a Paralegal to provide full spectrum assistance to the international risk and reinsurance team. This practice represents US and foreign insurers in complex, high value, high profile coverage litigations and arbitrations.

The ideal candidate could be an accomplished recent college graduate interested in exploring the law and willing to commit to at least two years before post-graduate work.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Presentation and document preparation (utilizing Microsoft Excel, Nuance, and other software)
  • Compose substantive correspondence responding to insurance claims, and handling of mailings
  • Prepare extensive Excel spreadsheets for the clients to track of the status of claims
  • Maintain case procedures and process (organization and maintenance of files such as correspondence, pleadings, discovery, etc.)
  • Administrative tasks including billing, communication with clients, reporting to clients
  • Digest underwriting and claims files, and report on it appropriately
  • Assist in document review and organization
  • Perform fact research and cite checking
  • Formulate privilege logs as needed
  • Review court dockets (both electronically and in person)
  • Blue booking, shepardizing, exhibit preparation, and proof-reading of briefs, court filings, and other documents as needed
  • Other ad-hoc duties as requested or assigned

Qualifications

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to liaise with clients or key stakeholders directly
  • A self-starter who can work independently with minimal direction
  • Outstanding academic credentials
  • Strong written and communication skills, along with professional email etiquette
  • Well-developed organization and time management skills
  • Intellectual curiosity

  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and make sound judgement decisions
  • Willing and able to learn new software as needed
