Clyde & Co seeks a bright attorney and an excellent writer with 3-8 years of insurance coverage litigation and commercial litigation experience to work with our Washington, DC office.

Our practice group in Washington, DC represents domestic and international insurers in federal and state courts nationwide, at both the trial and appelate level, in high-exposure, complex insurance coverage disputes arising under various liability policies. Our attorneys handle coverage disputes and matters arising from shareholder and other director and officer (D&O) litigation, financial institutions claims, fiduciary liability, antitrust, private equity and investment management disputes and other professional liability claims, as well as general liability disputes arising from commercial, product liability and pollution disputes.

Responsibilities and requirements

  • Analyze insurance policies, draft coverage opinions and provide coverage recommendations for clients;
  • Conduct complex and rigorous legal research and analysis, and draft memoranda;
  • Draft and review pleadings, memos, briefs, interrogatories, and other legal correspondence and litigation documents;
  • Attending depositions, hearings and mediations as required.

Education and Experience required

The candidate should be self-starters, able to work independently, comfortable with a varied caseload, and possess exceptional attention to detail. In addition, candidates should have the following:

  • A minimum of five years of experience of insurance coverage and/or commercial litigation;
  • Excellent academic credentials and work history;
  • Superior legal research, writing, and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Admitted to practice in DC and/or Illinois, additional admissions a plus.
