The Role

The Enterprise Data (BI) Analyst is a member of the Global Information Technology organization, serving within the Enterprise Data & Analytics team. Works across the department and other business functions to drive innovation, training and standards of analytics to enable the firm to use data to provide data intelligence and insights efficiently and safely using advance analytics and modern data intelligence tools.

The incumbent sets the standard operating procedures and best practices that guides the business users in their use of data for analytical purposes. They have a solid understanding of the business functions, operations, and data structure to support the business functions in understanding and executing their data and analytical use cases. They are a go to expert for the visualization, presentation and storytelling of data, presenting clean and insightful information that supports the business needs.

The Enterprise Data (BI) Analyst engages in firm-wide data intelligence activities and has an active part in the responsibility for improving education and awareness of data analysis and reporting using modern day tools, setting out and ensuring that enterprise reporting is meeting agreed Reporting standards and governance.

  • Work with stakeholders to understand how data and analytics can help the business objectives and strategic projects, working across business departments and practice areas (e.g. finance, HR, Client MI, IT)
  • Bring detailed and comprehensive knowledge and experience to advise and guide on Insight and advance analytics innovation
  • Work collaboratively with business users to understand, enable, and document analytical use cases and define business requirements.
  • Understand and break down end user problems, bringing an understanding of the technology, analytics methods, tools and operating model approaches used strategically by Clyde.
  • Develop compelling stories through data visualization and analytical tools to provide guidance to senior client leadership.
  • Manage internal client relationships, owning deliverables and handling project challenges
  • Share your knowledge and experience, verbally and in writing
  • Developing ongoing relationships with other Enterprise teams to deliver the corporate strategy for Data.
  • Support End User and Super User training, standards, and best practices across the Enterprise.
  • Use knowledge to contribute to the framework and reporting standards for insights and analytics across the enterprise

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis

  • Identify new analytical use cases from across the business and drive innovation with expert analytical thinking and knowledge.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders across the firm to define the scope of analysis to be completed and DI/BI needs, distilling the complex to simple.
  • Development of coherent and relevant analytical frameworks which deliver actionable business insights which drive improved BI products for internal and external use.
  • Carry out robust analysis using a range of complex data sets, including both qualitative and quantitative data and interpret findings to identify appropriate business intelligence outputs.
  • Bring together the output from analysis into simple and persuasive stories and present these findings to stakeholders across the firm and through BI tools.
  • Be an expert in the enterprise data tools used by the organization, supporting and training business users in their use and best practices.
  • Be a Champion of the Data Insights Group, managing and supporting its operations and growth to build a culture of Data Analysis enterprise wide.
  • Serve as a liaison between Business and Functional areas and technology to ensure that data related business requirements for data intelligence and exploitation (through visual and audible tools) are clearly defined, communicated and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and project planning.

Controls and Governance

  • Perform and ensure vigorous Test strategies on complex datasets to maintain the integrity of their usage.
  • Uphold and 'Champion' the enterprise data reporting standards and provide support in strategic priorities for development of information-based capabilities
  • Maintain and manage inventory of the enterprise data use cases and report on their value to the senior leadership to enable prioritization and strategic project planning.
  • Work closely with Data Governance team and Domain Owners to ensure data integrity and controls are maintained during architectural and analytical processes.

General Management

  • Take a proactive approach to work and be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing demands of the firm.
  • Pay close attention to detail in all aspects of work to ensure a high standard of output.
  • Ensure that all relevant data protection, information security and data retention policies are adhered to.
  • Undertake any other duties which may reasonably be required.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the principles and practice of equality and diversity.
  • In conjunction with the IT, provide progress reports & KPI to IT SLT and Data Domain owners.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • The ideal candidate is comfortable and competent designing, building, and improving Data Visualizations from complex datasets.
  • Has proven experience in clear but creative data story telling using the art of visualization and analysis for corporate audiences.
  • Experience in using modern analytical and visual tools such as Microsoft Power BI or similar and associated technologies such as PowerApps.
  • Experience delivering BI and MI solutions and ideally advance analytics into an organization.
  • Experience in successfully working with a global team.
  • An understanding of database technologies e.g. SQL, ETL, No-SQL, DW, and Cloud infrastructure, particularly Azure.
  • An understanding of data and science and ideally statistical modelling techniques e.g. Classification and regression techniques, Neural Networks, Markov chains, etc.;
  • An understanding of cloud technologies e.g. AWS, GCP or Azure
  • Ability to manage:
    • Complex relationships (indirect, senior leader, peer).
    • Expectations (move faster, lower budget, deliver better results).
    • Benchmarking to evolve methodology and standards.
    • Customer/client expectations against realities of capacity, skillset, etc.
  • Experience working with 3rd-party vendors for remote and in-office consulting.
  • An understanding of data modelling approaches such as Star schema, Kimball, Snowflake
  • Direct experience with data technologies, data management, data warehouses, and analysis & reporting tools.
  • Wide-ranging awareness of global, economic, technology and social trends in analytics.
  • Business strategy and Value driven acumen
  • Degree in Computer Science or related degree is preferred.
