Associate -EL/PL Large Loss (2-5 years
PQE)-Manchester - Catastrophic Injury and Large Loss Team
A unique opportunity has arisen for an
Associate (ideally with 2-5years PQE) to work from our Manchester office.
The Team
Siobhan Mullins' team is seeking a 2 - 5 years
qualified solicitor to run their own caseload and to assist on high
value, complex cases. The team offers a superb variety of work.
Clients include major insurers and corporate clients in connection
with catastrophic injury and large loss cases arising from injuries
at work, public liabilities and road traffic accidents in addition
to claims of sexual assault, harassment and stress/bullying. The
team also has substantial expertise in representing police forces in
claims of misfeasance, false imprisonment and malicious prosecution.
In addition to civil actions, the team is instructed in
relation to two substantial group litigation cases and represents a
number of clients in relation to a high-profile public inquiry.
Experience in defendant insurance and large claims is
needed but there is no expectation or requirement for any candidate
to have experience of defending claims against police clients.
The team offers a supportive environment and a hybrid
working week with 2 days in our new Manchester office and 3 days
working from home.
Key Responsibilities
Acting and assisting on Employers'
Liability and Public Liability claims on behalf of leading
insurers and insureds working on cases from £50k to over £1million.
Handling own multi-track caseload and
assisting solicitors and partners with complex, high value,
personal injury and group litigation claims.
Drafting pleadings, prepare ownliability strategies,reporting to clients, drafting witness
statements, preparing instructions to counsel and experts and
attending in conference and trials, conducting negotiations and
attendance at a variety of ADR formats.
Conducting research and keeping up to
date with legal and industry practices.
Essential Skills & Experience
Experience of running a multi-track, EL/
PL caseload including experience of determining liability.
Experience of working within a large
loss team.
Previous experience of Defendant
personal injury litigation.
A high level of accuracy and attention
to detail.
The ability to meet deadlines and work
efficiently and effectively.
A professional manner with the ability
to build relationships internally and externally.
Excellent verbal and written
communication skills.
Excellent academic background.
