Description
This is an exciting and unique opportunity for an ambitious Senior
Associate to join Clyde & Co's market-leading and fast-growing
Energy, Marine and Natural Resources team in Dubai, Clyde & Co's
largest office in the Middle East and Africa region.
You will be working with some of the leading lawyers in this field
in a top tier practice in the Middle East's largest international
law firm, acting for some of the most prominent clients in these
sectors, in international arbitration and litigation.
With the energy transition, ESG, the global energy crisis and the
uncertain geo-political landscape, this sector is facing
unprecedented legal challenges and the Clyde & Co team is at the
forefront of handling these issues globally. The Middle East and
Africa are two of the most complex and important regions in the
world in relation to such issues and Clyde & Co is the largest
international firm in the Middle East, with a very strong presence
in Africa.
With COP 28 being hosted in Dubai in 2023, the issues faced by
these sectors will be under the global microscope.
The team
The Middle East and Africa team is led by David Leckie, a senior
partner with over 30 years' experience in international energy
disputes. David is highly ranked in the legal directories as a leading
practitioner in his areas of specialism.
Leonard Soudagar is another leading partner in the group and is
highly ranked by Legal 500 as a 'Rising Star'.

Skills & Experience
Strong academic background
Experience of handling disputes at a major UK or international firm.
Experience in at least one of the following areas: energy
(including renewables and clean energy), marine, shipbuilding,
marine insurance, trade and commodities
A willingness to assume responsibility and take a pro-active and
commercial approach
Driven, enthusiastic and flexible team player
Entrepreneurial by nature with good commercial awareness
A real interest in business development and the ability to foster
and grow long-term client relationships
