Job description:

We are an international law firm with a registered office in Tanzania and operating in Dar es Salaam. We are looking for an Advocate to join as an Associate in our growing legal team. He/she will be expected to undertake the following duties:

1. Provide legal advice to the clients of the Firm across all relevant sectors. The candidate is expected to work with various teams, focus being on transactional and non-litigation matters.
2. Provide company secretarial services to the clients of the Firm.
3. Assist the clients of the Firm on their compliance requirements i.e. filing and obtaining the relevant permits and licences.
4. Identify and undertake business development initiatives to market the business of the Firm.

Experience:

The Associate should have the following qualifications, experience, and key attributes:

1. Degree in law (LL.B) and must have successfully completed Law School in Tanzania and admitted to the bar of advocates in Tanzania.
2. Must have between 2 to 3 years' experience in legal practice from a busy law firm.
3. Must be conversant with the laws of Tanzania, particularly those relevant to transaction and corporate advisory.
4. Must have knowledge and experience in company secretarial, mergers & acquisitions, and regulatory aspects.
5. Must have experience in undertaking and preparing legal due diligence reports and having done transactional assignments.
6. Must have ability to handle clients including attending meetings, providing initial legal advice, and taking the matter through to completion.
7. Must be driven, determined to succeed and able to work in fast pace environmental with multiple local and international teams.
8. Must be prompt to respond to emails, calls and provide updates in real time.

Languages:

Strong command of written and spoken English & Kiswahili
