The Team

Clyde & Co seeks a Paralegal to support our insurance coverage practice group. This practice represents insurers in complex commercial litigation and insurance coverage matters, including the defense of consumer class actions against insurers, coverage disputes pertaining to general liability and professional liability policies, and bad faith coverage litigation.

This opportunity is ideal for a Paralegal who has 1 to 3 years' experience or someone who is interested in gaining 2 - 3 years of legal experience before going to law school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, update and maintain spreadsheets to track status of claims
  • In charge of initial drafting of discovery requests and responses
  • In charge of initial drafting of simple motions
  • Triage and sort e-mail inbox to open new matters
  • Assist with document productions
  • Shepardize motions and opinion communications
  • Liaise with clients regarding status of claims, potential claims, and coverage letters
  • Finalize and send coverage letters; and
  • Monitor state and federal court dockets and forecast possible upcoming claims.

Qualifications

  • Intermediate level of proficiency in MS Office (specifically Excel)
  • Familiarity with Court websites is a plus
  • Web based document review databases (Nextpoint and/or Relativity)
  • Good command of Westlaw
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Superior organizational skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive information
  • Ability to gracefully work under pressure
  • Flexible and adapts well to changes in workload
  • Self-sufficient/self-starter
  • Trial experience is a plus

The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $85,000. The range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
