Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced lawyer to join our Knowledge team within our Legal Delivery & Innovation group.

The legal industry is undergoing a significant period of change - the adoption of technology and remote/hybrid working offers opportunities for law firms to reinvent the way we deliver our services. A Knowledge team is an important part of this cultural change by helping to re-engineer our approach to legal services, and by providing content to power technology and products. At Clyde & Co, our Knowledge team sits at the heart of our Legal Delivery & Innovation group, offering a chance to get directly involved in our change programme.

The Role

  • To provide support to fee-earners in our Dispute Resolution group (the Group) in the MEA region
  • To focus on streamlining our internal approach to the conduct of dispute matters, to achieve efficiency savings
  • To co-ordinate with the other PSLs to provide cross practice support on legal developments and precedents in MEA, and with contentious PSLs in other offices

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring legal developments, legal trends and regulatory changes, analysing key impacts, and communicate this to the Group, incorporating these changes into other knowledge work products in the Group and more widely (including the creation of market-facing content, and precedent/practice guidance amendments)
  • Promoting the contribution of know-how, and instigating processes to maximise contributions (including attendance at Group meetings, regular Group reminders, end of matter de-briefs etc.)
  • Building greater cross practice area connections between other professional support lawyers in the MEA region and other professional support lawyers with the same role globally
  • Creating and maintaining of precedents, templates, standard advice, and process maps needed by the Group to promote efficient, streamlined work production and support delegation
  • Assessing and developing best practice guidelines to support the different stages of the Group's matters, in conjunction with the Group partners, risk, and other stakeholders
  • Identifying innovative approaches to the improvement of service delivery in both technology and process
  • Supporting the Group's training (in the MEA Region and where appropriate globally) by providing input into the curriculum, as well as developing training and presentation materials (including e-learning modules) and delivering modules as required
  • Supporting the Group's external client training by developing training and presentation materials and delivering modules as required; in particular, identifying opportunities to recycle internal training materials to offer clients "added value" services

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer in a common law jurisdiction, with at least five years' post qualification experience as an arbitration/disputes lawyer
  • Regional experience preferable
  • Previous experience in a PSL/knowledge role, or track record in supporting knowledge projects, helpful
  • Innovation mindset, with a focus on re-engineering working practices
  • A keen interest in lawtech, with prior experience of using new technology very helpful (portals, workflow tools etc)
  • Good analytical skills, with a keen instinct towards pragmatic solutions
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to build relationships with internal fee-earners and external suppliers and clients
  • Team player, with a proven ability to lead a project to successful completion
