Associate/Senior Associate(5 years + PQE) - Professional IndemnityTeam - Edinburgh

We are looking for an Associate/Senior Associate with 5 years + PQE to join the Professional Indemnity to be based in the Edinburgh office.

The successful candidate should preferably have experience dealing with complex cases of medical negligence, professional negligence, commercial litigation claims or come from a strong background of litigation and the desire to work in a rewarding area of law.

The Team

We are Scotland's leading professional negligence team, ranked band 1 in Chambers and Legal 500. It is headed up by Anna Kentish who can be described as "outstanding" and is considered a "market leader" by sources. She is well regarded for her specialised expertise in handling claims against legal professionals with impressed sources saying: "If I were sued, I'd go to her".

The Clyde and Co Professional Indemnity Team

Our global professional indemnity team has a long-established reputation for successfully defending negligence claims against professionals and handling the most complex coverage issues. We offer specialist advice on both high volume and high value claims.

Our clients include accountants, actuaries, architects, bankers, brokers, engineers, financial advisors, IT professional, media professionals, medical practitioners, lawyers, surveyors and valuers. We have specialist teams focusing on each of the major professions, including a number of partners who specialise solely in lawyers' or accountants' liability, and are regarded as market leaders in these sectors.

Our professional indemnity team has experience in complex regulatory investigations and litigation, particularly the problems presented by parallel proceedings. We are also experienced in relation to coverage issues including trigger points for cover.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • You will have experience dealing with complex cases of medical negligence, professional negligence, commercial litigation or litigation claims.
  • You will be a highly determined individual able to adapt well within a demanding, fast-paced team.
  • You will enjoy being challenged by complex legal issues and expanding your knowledge.
  • You will be a confident and effective communicator.
  • You will be focussed on delivering a highly professional service to clients, including compliance with client SLAs and MI requirements.
