We are looking for an experienced Paralegal/Litigation Executive to
join the Marine Team to be based in our Guildford office.
The Role
We are recruiting a Paralegal/Litigation
Executive in Guildford to handle a varied caseload of Marine claims.
This is a great opportunity to get into an interesting area of
marine law with a successful and growing team.
To be successful in this role it will be preferable for you to be
able to demonstrate a minimum of 12 months experience of marine or
commercial litigation. You will have strong academics preferably CII
or above/degree. A strong work ethic and ability to handle a
high-volume, varied complexity caseload whilst meeting deadlines/SLAs
and contributing towards targets is essential.
The Team
Now the largest shipping practice in the world, Clyde & Co has
specialist marine lawyers based in trading hubs around the globe, on
call and serving clients' requirements in all time-zones at any time
of day.
We act for the heart of the maritime industry - insurers,
shipbuilders, owners, charterers, salvors, financiers, port
authorities and government, and P&I clubs - and clients across the
broader trade commodities and energy sector.
Our marine team in Manchester specialise in all aspects of cargo and
freight claims, of all sizes. We act in a wide range of claims arising
from the damage/loss of cargo in transit, whether it involves carriage
by sea, air, rail or road. Our services also extend to logistics,
yachts, marine trades, warehousing, ports and terminals.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Skills & Experience
Ideally a minimum of 12 months experience in marine or commercial litigation.
You will have strong academics, preferably CII or above/degree.
An effective communicator with the ability to liaise with internal
and external clients in a professional manner, striving to provide
exceptional service at all times.
Drafting court documents.
Instruction of counsel and experts where appropriate.
Assessing liability and quantum and
preparing reports/advice.
Making and responding to offers and
negotiating settlement of both liability and quantum as and when necessary.
Good organisational skills and ability to manage own time
effectively within a fast-paced environment.
Excellent attention to detail and customer/client service focused.
Good negotiation skills.
Excellent team player, sharing in team goals to provide excellent
quality and efficiency of service, with a willingness to take on new
responsibilities and challenges.
