Corporate deal making has been a core part of our business for over thirty years and we're proud to say that we complete more corporate deals than any other legal adviser. And it's not just us saying that.

Each year Experian MarketIQ conduct annual research into the UK corporate deal market looking at mergers & acquisitions and equity capital market transactions announced between 1 January and 31 December. Experian MarketIQ confirmed Gateley as being the most active corporate legal adviser across the UK for 2019 deals completed in the results published at end of Q3 2019.

Clients come back to us, and other advisers continue to recommend us, because we have the requisite technical knowledge, capacity and know-how to proactively drive the transaction process and to facilitate deal completions that consistently meet or exceed our clients' expectations.

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Corporate Solicitor/Associate to join our busy corporate team based in the Midlands at either our Birmingham or Nottingham offices. This role would ideally suit a corporate solicitor with between 3-5 post qualification experience and will be capable of working alongside our diverse corporate partners on a broad range of matters including mergers & acquisitions, private equity, and equity capital markets transactions.

The successful candidate will be keen to develop their skills in this area within a leading national team, interacting effectively with colleagues and clients at every level and actively engaging in business development. The successful candidate will be able to take full advantage of the on-going comprehensive training available.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Due to the nature of the work candidates who have upwards of 3 years PQE are likely to have the right level of knowledge and experience to undertake this role.
  • Excellent commercial acumen.
  • The ability to take on responsibility and liaise with clients.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • An ability and willingness to learn and eagerness to take early responsibility.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good IT skills.
